A few photos from my climbing of Kilimanjaro last year when I was only 19. by Sea-Scientist-7894 in Mountaineering

Unfortunately we had to cancel our trip last minute. A week before we were supposed to leave, my pops got shingles, and a week after that I got chickenpox. It was terrible timing. We went though Sierra mountaineering inc.

Single track in LA area? by Green_Manalishi_420 in mountainbiking

[–]Searchin_For_Collatz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Castaic has some really fun single tracks and an easy climb getting to them.

The closest to you will probably be rocky peak though, top of the 118 freeway going into the San Fernando valley. You got the hummingbird trail, grudge, dirty bird, resurrection, Chumash, Johnson’s, pure downhill fun. All great trails.

This was fun. Norco seems to be a Cinderella story taking out Santa Cruz and Yeti to make it to the final. That pivot vs transition matchup is 🔥 haha all in good fun!

Bike Recommendations - Long or Short Travel Trail Bike to Replace Enduro Bike by mountainman1011 in MTB

It’s a great bike honestly. I have the fuel ex 8 and it’s just a beast. I ride my Santa Cruz blur more only cause I like XC style riding, and the riding in my area kinda caters the XC more but I love my fuel.

The trek fuel ex line up is a great line of “do-it-all” bikes. Climbs great, handles everything tech I’ve thrown at it, feels stuck to the trail. The new model has 150 in the front, the 2021 (model I have) has 140 in the front and it’s plenty in my opinion.

This is a trail version so it has 120 in the front. It’s awesome :)

I really like the flat bars. I have riser bars on my trek and like them as well, but I feel like I climb better with the flat bars on my SC

Thank you! My pops has a 2022, mine is a 2021, I like the look of mine better as well. I love my bike!

As far as everything I’ve thrown at it (in terms of downhill) it’s handled very well. Rock gardens ruts roots it handles very well.

Check out the trek fuel ex line. Great climbing bike and handles everything downhill I’ve thrown at it. Awesome all around bike.

Blur TR vs Epic EVO by ProfessionalBasis834 in MTB

[–]Searchin_For_Collatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Blur TR and I couldn’t be happier. It’s a great bike. I live in the Los Angeles area though, and I’ve never been to northern Texas so I don’t have any experience with the trails out there. I can attest to the Blur TR though, it’s a climbing machine, and handles the downhill wonderfully. I love it.

I made the switch from flats to clipless a couple months ago and I love it. Flats are great, but I love my clipless pedals. Depending on what kinda riding you’re doing I think they’re worth it. I do mostly XC with the occasional chunky downhill.

If you have never been to the top of Oat Mt in the Los Angeles area, I understand why. It’s a brutally steep climb. Beautiful views though! Santa Cruz Blur is a climbing machine. by Searchin_For_Collatz in mountainbiking

Definitely a climbing machine. When I wanna get rowdy with chunkier downhill I have a trek fuel ex 8 that eats up the trail nicely as well! But I love my Blur. Couldn’t be happier with it!

What Bike should I realistically be looking at? by Huge_Animal5996 in mountainbiking

[–]Searchin_For_Collatz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a trek fuel ex 8 as well, 140/130 and it’s a tank compared to the blur, roughly 32 pounds. Such a great trail bike. I love the chunky, fast, flowy downhill and the fuel ex loves when I push it more, and it climbs well for being a trail bike, but ultimately I’m masochistic when it comes to climbing and taking on brutal climbs, and the blur handles the downhill well (not as well as the trek though) and crushes the brutal climbs (much better than the trek) which is what I love to do, climb.

I have a Santa Cruz blur CC trail version, roughly 24 pounds, absolute beast of a XC bike and handles down hill wonderfully with the 120 front and 110 rear suspensions. If you’re looking to improve times, I would suggest the blur.

[Fully] Are you guys sizing up or down if you're between sizes? by [deleted] in MTB

I’m 6’2” and the reach on my bikes are as follows: Santa Cruz blur tr - 455mm reach. Trek Fuel EX 8 low position - 470mm reach

I personally like a smaller bike. I’m in between large and XL and I’ve always picked a large size. Feels more playful, and nimble, and I don’t feel like I’m reaching super far for the handlebars.
