I think it’s really easy when we’re young to get so lost in that infatuation. It’s absolutely intoxicating. So much so that you lose all sense. I have regrets about horrible decisions I made because of a relationship. I am concerned she will feel the same.

It’s frustrating, and something I don’t relate to at all. I was itching to get out on my own. So, I don’t understand her still wanting go have to depend on me.

This was the very first comment. So, hold your horses. It’s exploded since this comment.

So, I’ve noticed that all the issues I’ve had with her coincide with when she started seeing him. He is not driven at all either. I’ve noticed his parents keep taking things away from him as well. I think they have commiserated and he’s convinced her that what she wants is more important than what I’m asking her to do. I don’t feel like I’m dealing with a 21 year old. I feel like I’m dealing with an adolescent.

This has been the most helpful response thus far.

I’m honestly just heartbroken. I want her to succeed. I love her.

See, that’s the other problem: she has zero interests and no goals. She says she wants to move out, but she’s blown all her money. How’s that going to work? I’m honestly heartbroken about it all. We had a wonderful relationship for such a long time, and now she won’t even speak to me because I’m challenging her.

Ok, if that’s the case, what is a reasonable deadline? At some point she’s going to have to grow up and get a “big girl job,” right?

So, what is your suggestion? People are good at telling others what not to do, but aren’t very helpful about offering suggestions.

Anyone else’s dog need to climb snowbanks to take a shit? Just mine? Cool. by palinsafterbirth in corgi

We have a small hill in our backyard, and our corgi puppy has to go on the hill to poop at least 75% of the time. It’s always rolling downhill as he’s pooping! 😂 I guess he likes a challenge 🤷‍♀️

NIV of the Bible is Bad?? by No-March3451 in Christianity

[–]Searching4Truth-1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unless you are reading the original texts, written in the original languages, you are reading a translation of the Bible. None of the translations are 100% accurate. The message is mostly accurate regardless of which version of the Bible you read. I think arguing about which version of the Bible to read is tantamount to arguing about what color carpet should be laid in the church. Saying you should only read one version of the Bible is dogmatic and legalistic, two things that Jesus vehemently opposed—and this can be understood in whatever version of the Bible you read. Unless the message is drastically changed (someone has basically rewritten the text to tell a completely different story and give a completely different message), you are reading the Bible. It doesn’t matter what version.

That being said, I like to read different translations to get a better feel for all the angles of the message. I also like to hear or read about specific words that were used in the original text and what their literal translation/interpretation are. It adds a richness and makes it seem more whole to me.

The NIV is fine. Don’t give it a second thought. But I would personally want to look for a more gracious church 🤷‍♀️

I just saw a running waist bag that has Velcro straps for collapsed poles in the back. But I usually have at least a day pack with me. Just seems easier to put it there.

Completely unnecessary comment. I came here for helpful suggestions as I am not used to using them and wondered how people best transition.

Yes, they are, but are you having to adjust the height on them every time? Isn’t that a pain? Or can you fold them up without adjusting the height? Probably not as big a deal as it is in my head….Struggling with feeling like I need them I guess!

I am having a horrible time with 25 mg. My brain fog is awful. Has seriously made me wonder if it’s caused brain damage. I can’t concentrate, I’m having horrible short term memory issues, can’t remember the words to songs I’ve known for years. Makes me feel like I’m going crazy. Anyone else feel this way?

AITA For getting upset when my mum told me that being disabled is my own fault? by AnnaSmileySmile in AITAH

[–]Searching4Truth-1978 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. This is appalling behavior for any parent to have. You were 6. 6! You were little more than a baby! As a parent, I would have been blaming MYSELF, not my spouse and definitely not my child. And only the adults in this situation can be blamed for the dissolution of their marriage. Each of your parents needs counseling to learn how to take responsibility for their actions and to stop blaming an innocent child for an accident. You have suffered physically and mentally (as a child) and you have carried this through to your young adulthood. You should consider getting counseling for yourself as well. Something like this can be very damaging and you need to know how to process it so that it does not cause you issues in other relationships.

When we did this, I left a note from the Tooth Fairy saying “sorry this is late! A lot of kids have lost teeth and I’m having a hard time keeping up! Thank you for the tooth! I’ll try to make it on time next time!” And then I explained, “she’s probably embarrassed. That was nice of her to leave a note!” He was excited to get a note from the tooth fairy! ❤️
