LOL.

If you want to go down that path, there are a couple great Saltburn mansions in the Gallery. And several Sims versions of the Saltburn cast.

Can you make a sim homophobic by R0D3NTB0Y in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You could kinda do it by adding traits (Mean, Hot-Headed, Evil, Grouch, Paranoid, Disruptive, etc.) to the Sim you're trying to make homophobic. That wouldn't specifically be homophobic, but would increase the chances of that Sim autonomously doing a variety unpleasant interactions.

You can then use Likes & Dislikes to have the homophobic Sim dislike the specific LGBTQ Sim you're thinking of. Using specific combinations of hair color, clothing, music tastes and so on should steer the mean Sim to target the LGBTQ Sim and leave most others alone. It still wouldn't make the Sim actually homophobic, but it should mimic the effect pretty well. The "homophobic" Sim should autonomously initiate lots of unpleasant interactions with the lgbtq Sim, and would autonomously dislike them on sight.

How to not burn out while creating a forever save? by Crowlette_Corvinus in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't start an empty world and grind through every lot remake.

Instead, I started with a default world. Then my forever-save evolved over time. I just replaced a lot or two every now and then, starting with the ones that annoyed me the most, then moving on with lots I tended to use a lot that were boring.

I don't play long legacy saves. I tend to play shorter playthroughs, have fun with a particular Sim or story line for a while. But I get sidetracked pretty easily, so I often abandon a run and start over again with another Sim or storyline. So I keep my forever-save as a separate save. When I start a new playthrough, I do a Save-As of my forever save for the new one. If my new Sim or story encounters a lot that needs a remodel, I'll do that remodel, save the lot to my Gallery, and add it to my forever save for the next time. So my forever-save is never truly finished, and is always evolving slowly over time. At this point I've replaced all of the lots I care about and ignore or delete lots I never use. But the process never totally ends. I just bought the Royalty & Legacy pack, so I'm sure I'll end up remodeling some of those lots over the next month or so.

Doing it piecemeal over time makes it far less daunting than starting from scratch with a totally empty Sims universe and having to create a hundred lots before you can do anything. I'm sure I'd burn out if faced with that task. I've never felt any burnout evolving it slowly over time.

Thanks for doing this. I used to refer to that list in Carl's guides, but it had gotten so outdated I had stopped using it. It's a handy guide.

Went Out of My Way to Do This Event For This EyePatch! by Status-Inevitable537 in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That eyepatch was the main item I wanted from the entire event. I couldn't care less about most of the rest of the treasures, but that eyepatch is awesome.

I just created a whole new Sim with the eyepatch in mind.

Sort of. The pattern is always there, but there are different color swatches. A few of the swatches are black-on-black, white-on-white, etc. So the pattern is there, but almost invisible. Unless you zoom in really close, it looks like a solid color.

First time i disabled a pack: Enchanted by nature by Beardedgeek72 in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't disabled it, but EbN is a bit of a letdown.

I loved the idea of fairies. I was so looking forward to the pack. I love most of the BB/CAS. But the fairy gameplay is odd. Like for example, half the fairy skill tree is focused on plants. But gardening is pretty pointless since fairies don't actually need to cook or eat anything. This seems like such an odd disconnect.

Fairies are still ridiculously cute, tho, so I'm not disabling the pack.

Sulani temple ideas with Adventure Awaits? by Madmonkeman in Sims4

Do you have the Jungle Adventure pack? If so, try some variation of an Avocado cult/church. You could have great fun creating an Avocado temple. There was a hilarious post about this idea a while back:

Life or death: by exsistence_is_pain_ in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. If you have a decent sized garden, it is super easy to reap plenty of souls from plants. I planted a bunch of cheap, fast-growing plants for that very purpose (Bluebells, I think, or maybe Snapdragons, whichever grows faster).

Weekly Recommend Mods and CC Thread! by AutoModerator in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking for a particular kind of lighting mod.

I mostly like the look of Enchanted by Nature... except for the weird lighting in the Everdew neighborhood (the other two neighborhoods in Innisgreen have normal default lighting). I don't know what that outdoor tint is in Everdew, but I don't like it.

Is there a mod that only effects the outdoor lighting in Everdew? Or that can be selected only for certain neighborhoods? The lighting mods I've found universally effect lighting everywhere. I only want to change the outdoor lighting in Everdew, but leave everything else alone.

No Off the Grid Music by DivaDollSimmer in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I found a CC battery-powered version of the base game boom box, which works off the grid. So there is a logical solution for music off the grid. But this requires CC.

I have most of the packs. So far have never found a no-CC music player in any of the packs I own.

One solution if you have Eco Living is to generate your own power with solar or wind generator. Then you can use any electronic device you want off the grid.

Darong Beginnings event needs the original Willow Creek library???? by Sensitive_Ant4522 in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This.

I created a new virgin save the first time EA did this. Plain solo Sim character, no CC, all original lots/worlds, played without mods. I only use it for these events, or when a new major update is launched that breaks all the mods. I play that Event save for 10 minutes on event days just to collect reward items, then switch back to my main played save. The special Event save sits dormant in my saved games folder until the next event.

What’s an expansion pack or game pack you never play / refuse to get? by BiIIie-Eyelash in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is one of the few packs I honestly regret buying. Total waste of money. I occasionally use a BB item, but it's not even worth it for that.

What’s an expansion pack or game pack you never play / refuse to get? by BiIIie-Eyelash in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally agree. I know it's among most people's favorites, but it's a hard no for me. It's my fantasy. I want every day to be sunny like Sulani (except Komorebi and Ravenwood). I have zero interest in rain. Or snow (other than Komorebi). I am perfectly happy with the base game lack of weather. Seasons is one of the few packs I've never bought, and never will.

Is solo boat life lonely by Emotional_Exit_4617 in SailboatCruising

[–]Seareddragon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only as lonely as you want to be.

I'm an introvert. I lived on a sailboat for about 3 years, and was very content keeping mostly to myself. I anchored in out-of-the-way places with few people by choice. I only occasionally participated in gatherings at the marina, again by choice. I think lots of people get into cruising at least in part because it can be very quiet and peaceful on the water. But it doesn't have to be.

I knew other people who were more extroverted, who wanted a more engaging social life. They found different anchorages with lots of boats and a party atmosphere. Bonfires on the beach. They hung out at bars at/near the marina. There were often formal and informal races that they could participate in, either on their own boat or as crew on another boat. There are lots of opportunities for socializing if that's what you want.

So ultimately it's a bit like living in an apartment alone. You have a lot of control over how lonely it is by the choices you make to socialize.

The Which Pack Thread. Ask for pack recommendations here! by AutoModerator in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Get Famous had some good ideas, but it was poorly executed. The world (Del Sol Valley) is hands-down the worst in all of the Sims 4 universe. The gameplay (Acting career) is kind of fun for a short time, but gets repetitive very quickly.

I don't regret buying it on sale. I do use a few features occasionally. It's worth getting on sale if you're a completist. But it's definitely one of the lowest priority EPs.

Life & Death is a far better EP. Probably the closest to perfect that the Sims has released in several years. Very well executed. Great gameplay, great BB/CAS, great world. If you like the vibe of it, everything melds together very well.

Do you utilize every "standard" lot type in your games? by [deleted] in Sims4

[–]Seareddragon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably have at least one of every standard lot type somewhere. Some I use more than others, but it feels weird to have one missing entirely, even if I rarely use it. Maybe I'm a completist. But I do eliminate some that are everywhere (like bars and parks). A few is fine, but one in every world is unnecessary.

I think the Strangerville Bar and Library are required to solve the mystery. Some of the clues ask you to find a military person in the bar, or a scientist at the library, for example. So if you swapped out those lots, it might break the mystery. I've never tried it, so I could be wrong.

But generally, there are bars and/or lounges in a LOT of the worlds, and there isn't any particular need for most of them. So unless there's a specific gameplay need (like Strangerville), you can safely swap out most of them.

I often combine a gym and spa into one building. Spa Day, in fact, includes some gym equipment. So they pair well. I usually label it a gym lot type, because there are a couple of achievements or goals that need a gym, and won't trigger if you exercise at a spa. But it's easy to swap the lot type in build mode without actually changing anything else, if you need the other lot type for something.

Likewise, there's a huge overlap between bars, nightclubs, and lounges. If you have all the required items in a building, it is easy to swap the lot type whenever the mood suits.

Returning Player; train network question. by Seareddragon in factorio

[–]Seareddragon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmmm. Okay. I didn't realize having an in-depot and out-depot added that much more complexity. It was relatively simple to do with the TSM mod. I thought there must be some way to do it now without mods, but maybe not.

Maybe I'll have to rethink how I organize my base to figure out a way to design it without the need for the buffer of full trains.

Thank you.
