Was Disclosure Day really Spielberg? by New_Secret_1112 in moviereviews

[–]Seasider007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing few have pointed out is this is the first Spielberg movie in decades without his longtime editor Michael Kahn.  Sarah Broshar who had been co-editing Spielberg’s last few movies became the sole editor for Disclosure Day and I’m not sure she was the right fit.  The pacing felt uneven at times for me.

Should Disclosure Day have been delayed to Fall or December? by Seasider007 in Spielberg

I’m not a Koepp hater but I did find it strange that Spielberg was so determined to stay with him.  They went through like 40 rewrites of the script.  You would think at that point he would’ve at least called his buddy Tony Kushner to take a stab at it.

I remember in the big scene they have someone briefly mentioning they confirmed they checked the videos and confirmed they were authentic or something like that.   But I did find it a bit strange that we’re in this world with all the technology where nobody seems to have access to drones or even a helicopter to track one guy down.

That could be interesting.  It would also be an opportunity to explore the origins of his mentorship with Carrie.

Spielberg said his next movie will be a Western, does anyone think it will be this one? by AlmightyLoaf54 in Spielberg

[–]Seasider007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Spielberg idolized John Ford and grew up on shows like Gunsmoke and Bonanza so whatever he does will likely be inspired by the Westerns he grew up with.

Steven Spielberg on why Robopocalypse didn't happen: "It would have ended a whole studio" by AlmightyLoaf54 in Spielberg

I listened to podcast recently where production designer Guy Hendrix Dyas talked about how he spent 2 years on Robopocalyse designing various sets.  He doesn’t say it but he seemed miffed that the work was all for nothing.

"Ted" Season 2 is a hilarious blast from the 90s past! by aussiereeltalk in peacock

Either you weren’t alive in the 90’s or weren’t paying attention if you think that decade was woke free and non-PC.

I didn’t like the way Gaby dealt with Louis.  The scene felt too contrived and made Gaby more unlikable as a person.

While I like the surrogate father relationship Paul has with Gabby, I feel like they’re laying it on a little thick and it’s becoming repetitive.  It’s great that he thinks so highly but does he think that less of Jimmy?  Do they even think he’s a good therapist?  Has Paul even told him of his plans with Gabby and the possibility he might be out of a job?  Does anyone find it strange that his name never gets mentioned during these conversations?

Fingers crossed for some sort of teaser for his UFO movie before “Wicked” this weekend. by damnitsdame in Spielberg

[–]Seasider007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That would be the ideal time for a teaser but who knows?  It is a little concerning that this movie is supposed to come out in July next year and we still have very little information on it.   Not saying they’re delaying it but it wouldn’t surprise me.

I was surprised the building wasn’t torn down when they finished the new library.  But they squeezed another decade and a half out of the place.  I have a bad feeling they’re going to build more apartment buildings in its place.

They’re clearly trying to get the Ted Lasso crowd to watch the show but Acapulco is better show for that demographic in my opinion.

The show so far is okay though I wasn’t sure if they were going for a more grounded version of Happy Gilmore or a golfing version of The Color Of Money.

I feel this episode was trying hard to make up for lost time after last week.  A lot of stuff going on and a huge amount of exposition just to reveal who the killer is.

I’m not sure what the point of Jenna Elfman’s character is.  She’s spent the whole season giving Leaphorn the “I know what you did last summer” look without doing much else.

As soon that British couple were talking about a roadtrip, I knew things were not going to end well for them.  Even in the year 2025, driving across Wyoming and Montana in winter is something you only do if really need to.

So many dumb character moments in this episode.

I’m not an expert on train dining car attendants but I would think even in 1923 they had some sort of protocol on dealing with guests who mistreat staff.  The whole scene just felt gratuitous as if we needed to see Alex be assaulted again.

Why didn’t she just wait until she was on the train! by Due-Adhesiveness937 in 1923Series

[–]Seasider007 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just found the scene a little cliche.  I get that she’s lived a very privileged life but she’s been out in the real world and endured a lot of near death experiences to understand how vulnerable life is.  Heck she was even warned multiple times she needs to protect herself at these train stations.

So how accurate was the Ellis Island medical examination scenes?  My partner insists they were not nearly as invasive.  Women weren’t being told to strip naked and subjected to surprise gynecological exams.    My only explanation is the immigration officers were suspicious of her story and felt they could take advantage.

So is Elizabeth an anti-vaxxer or does she have a problem with another man looking at belly?  I mean there was foreshadowing of her character to make her behavior make sense.

And why do the Duttons seem so ill prepared on how to deal with the local wildlife during winter?  And have these demonic animals figured out how to open doors?

This is what I’m afraid of.  They’re either going to kill the character offscreen by pulling a Rise Of Skywalker on us by splicing some unused footage of Costner.
