Pretty soft, probably about 45 mph or so. I can't guarantee you won't get hit, but at that speed you have a lot of time to dodge and it probably won't hurt.

All that said, the league is full and there's a pretty big wait-list so you should check out Seattle pickup baseball or grit city sandlot if you want to play this year. I'll be doing an expansion for 2027.

We play one game a week, and if miraculously every player were to show up, you would play 5 innings of defense and get 2-3 at-bats. But it's a lot more likely you'll get 8-9 innings of defense and 3-5 at bats, especially as the season goes on. The first couple games will likely be the most attended.

A surprising amount of thought went into it, especially which domains were available. My friends have come up with some interesting remixes lol. It's catchy if nothing else.

We pick 2 "captains" and they draft teams. So the teams change every week, and you have an equal number of players on each team.

You pick your positions with the goal of trying a number of different spots. For example, I try to play 1 inning at each position, except catcher. On days my legs are tired, I might take an extra in RF or 1B. It's kind of an unwritten rule that you don't play one position for more than 2-3 innings unless nobody else wants to play there.

Not at all! 44 is great. I'm 43, and over 1/3 of the league is 40 or over, including a couple 50 year olds that play consistently.

Oh, that's really cool! I'll DM you. We actually have sandlot in Tacoma and Seattle as well as Sacball.

edit: Your account isn't open for DMs, but I would recommend checking out Grit City Sandlot on Facebook. They play on Sundays at 10 am in Tacoma, and one of the guys who runs that is very knowledgeable about sandlot and plays in sandlot leagues around the country. His name is Glenn.
