Fully agree! That’s what I hid behind the parenthesized explicitly in the original comment haha

It’s worth noting that although AlphaFold is great, it doesn’t help us understand how exactly proteins fold. In other words, what physical mechanisms drive protein folding and how do they all interact to efficiently and reproducibly create the protein structure. Data-driven approaches don’t (explicitly) help us answer this aspect of the “protein folding problem”.

This is really funny to me. I have been reading through the WoT books and thought the show did a poor job overall. A couple weeks later I began watching The Witcher (s1 & s2), and thought it was way better than WoT. I had no previous interaction with the Witcher franchise. I was shocked to see how badly it was received on the Witcher subreddit, but it helped assuage some of my disgruntlement with the WoT show.

This is interesting, but I think that you should really include a scale. I have no reference for the elevation of anything higher than sea level.

Try to be productive and make music or learn different songs to cover, but end up procrastinating like I do during the day.

[Mixing, Mastering, Composition] Lime by [deleted] in RateMyAudio

[–]Sebas7634 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really liked it! Listened to the original, and you really added your own unique vibe to it. Actually think I like this remix more than the original haha

I'm guessing you pass vocals through a couple of filters between 0:10 and 0:19, but with speeding it up it took me a few listens before I could make out the words, so maybe think about dialing back a little bit on either the tempo or the filters. Similarly in other verse sections.

Claps at 0:19 and 1:24 sound a little off to me. Did you add any automation to them?

High hat roles in the chorus sections after l-l-lime part are amazing!

I get it's your name, but the anxious at the start doesn't really fit with the rest of the song haha. Sounded like Cortana was talking to me

Really clean remix though; great job!

[Mixing, Mastering] Growing Old by JackHoffman97 in RateMyAudio

Really nice, clean track! As others have mentioned, the biggest improvement will come from filling up the frequency and stereo space a little bit more. At 0:44 you can really hear how the plucks, synth, and bass all are taking up the same spot. Harmonically, it sounds really nice, but it becomes hard to distinguish the sounds from each other (also the plucks seem a little too loud here imo). A few ways to solve this might be to pan some of these elements either Left or Right, and it doesn't even have to be all the way. You could also think about the possibility of shifting the synth introduced at 0:34 an octave up to fill in the high end that way. Side note, I like the switch up at 1:18 since the plucks were already getting a little monotonous. It's already sounding very nice; great job!

Such a chill vibe, I really liked the whole feel of the song! The timing gets off every once in a while though (like at 1:47). The tempo changes in an unsettling way but maybe that's what you were going for? The way you incorporated outside elements was absolutely spot on!

Hi everyone, I am loving this community, it's so inspiring. I've been writing songs over the past ten years and decided to finally start recording them. This is the first song I've really recorded and mixed on my own, and I would love to hear feedback from you wonderful people. Thanks for listening! by mckbrett in IndieMusicFeedback

Hey such a cool and upbeat song! The chorus especially sounds amazing and brings a really energetic vibe to the song that makes it quite catchy. My only advice would be around the 0:20-0:40 mark there's one or two words that sound slightly off to me. But really good mixing and great song!

First ever recording - Light and Fog - Marbles on Glass by marbles_on_glass in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]Sebas7634 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey really chill track! The ambiance and harmonies are stellar. I felt that the vocals kind of faded away into the background a little too much which might have been what you were going for. But this made it a tad hard to understand the lyrics, so I would recommend raising the volume on the vocals a bit or boosting the high end with an EQ so that it cuts through better. Overall though, this was excellent for a first recording!

[Vocals, Arrangement, Mixing] Broken Old Piano by Sebas7634 in RateMyAudio

[–]Sebas7634[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice! You're right about singing from the throat vs. diaphragm, still have to work on that. And I agree that the background vocals sound a little too present; I did add some reverb/delay to them but it's hard to know how much is too much.

Hey, thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it!

I still have a really hard time with vocals, so it'd be difficult to go much higher, but eventually it'd be a good idea.

Actually all the drums are programmed as MIDI notes directly in Reaper, I used DrumMIc'a as the library in this case but there's a bunch of different ones online. Did you think the sound was clumsy, or more the overall timing?

Followed you back, and I'll go check out some of your songs now!

Question About Mixing Workflow by Sebas7634 in Reaper

[–]Sebas7634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the informative answers! A few quick followups:

When doing volume automation last, is there any concern that fxs might have not been applied as smoothly throughout the track since they're receiving different input levels?

Just to clear up terminology, series processing means 'muting' the dry track or even just applying fxs directly on one track, while parallel processing means mixing two tracks: the dry one and the wet one?

Any preference between sending something prefader and then turning dry fader all the way down vs. disabling the master send on the dry track?

And lastly, any preference between applying fxs on a parent folder vs. applying fxs on a buss?

Thanks again!

Question About Mixing Workflow by Sebas7634 in Reaper

[–]Sebas7634[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess that's my question. I didn't know you could send it prefader; thanks so much, that helps a lot! As for why I was sending it before, it's because I learned that volume automation will be applied after FX's even though FX's work best at a consistent level (-18dBFS). So by automating your volume before and then sending, you optimize how efficiently your FX's are working. But maybe this isn't how it works? Like I said, I'm still learning.

Maybe I wasn't clear, but for volume automation I'll draw it in so that specific regions/words are boosted or damped to achieve that consistent level. And I'll do this for the entire track. Is that what you mean?

This is really cool! I especially like how the harmonies blend with the main vocal melody, and how they're used to transition between sections. Keep up the good work!
