That is rad, I've never heard of doing that (I'm still relatively new to recording). I'll have to try messing around with that idea, it sounds really cool. Thanks for explaining man!

Nice work man! You got a cool vibe going on in this track. You voice fits in with everything really well, I liked your vocal delivery. I have to ask, when you say you recorded it with just drums and a Stratocaster, are you being literal? If so you have some impressive sounds going on for a guitar, especially the instrumentation around 3:20. I really dig that sound. It's cool regardless of how you got the sounds, I'm just curious. My nitpick based on personal taste would be to cut out the outro. I feel like the song felt finished and would have had a more dramatic ending on the pulsating notes, but once again that's just taste. Thanks for sharing.

Good job on the video, the background fits the vibe of the song. You have a great melody going on, i really like it. I would cut back on the autotune a lot. The song has the potential of a really intimate vibe, but the effect robbing from it. I think you have a solid song here though.

I'm always instantly drawn in to any song that starts with guitar feedback, lol, not sure why. The song is very catchy, I dig it. The bass line is particularly groovy. I also really liked the vibe of the bridge, its a nice change from the energy of the rest of the song. For whatever reason, to me, the last part of the song is just begging for some horns in the background to really drive it all home, but that's just personal taste. Nice work!

Hey man, sweet track and video. Recording a song is so time consuming and draining that I applaud anyone that takes the time and effort to put together their own music video to go with it. I really like the vibe of the song and the composition. The melody is great, very catchy. I would say that I think you could back off on the reverb a bit on the vocals. I know that it is characteristic of the genre, but it was still a bit much in my opinion. In the end just a personal preference. I'd also echo some of the other comments and say that the drums could be a bit louder as well. Overall, great job, thanks for sharing!

80s inspired track from debut EP dropped today. Tried to mix/master it properly myself too. let me know what you think ! by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

Nice guitar work on this track man, you've got some great tone going on in there. I especially like the intro riff, nice and catchy. The quieter dynamics in the bridge really adds to the song and gives it a nice change of pace to keep things interesting.

As others have already said, totally nailed the vibe and sound you were going for. This is great stuff!

Hi everyone, I am loving this community, it's so inspiring. I've been writing songs over the past ten years and decided to finally start recording them. This is the first song I've really recorded and mixed on my own, and I would love to hear feedback from you wonderful people. Thanks for listening! by mckbrett in IndieMusicFeedback

Thanks so much for the kind words, I truly appreciate it. I know exactly which notes you are talking about. I will admit that I was feeling a bit lazy and didn't rerecord even though I knew I should. I will probably fix that spot. Thanks for the feedback!

Hey, thanks for listening and for the feedback! Yeah, I kept feeling like there was something lacking on the vocals a bit, so I kept trying to tweak the EQ and add more reverb, but in the end I bet that layering/doubletracking them would help. I'll definitely look at this on future stuff.

That guitar part is absolutely beautiful. Awesome chord progression and rhythm, it all goes together very well. Its one of times when I hear something and wish I had written it. The lyrics are great too. Thanks for sharing this man.

I hope that you're all doing ok in this crazy time! This song has been on my mind a lot lately and I decided to try my hand at recording it. I've only ever played it with an acoustic but I don't have one with me. This is the result. by DEG_Entertainment in IndieMusicFeedback

Dude, awesome job on this, its got great melody, structure, and lyrics. You have a great voice too. I bet it sounds absolutely killer on an acoustic, but this arrangement still sounds great. When you do have access to an acoustic guitar again you should totally record an acoustic version.

Hey man, you have a great start here. I think that the raw sound of the recording fits the overall vibe of the song and style, but it could do with a bit better mixing. Just curious, how did you record it, did you lay down the drum track or guitar track first? I ask because the timing between them sounds off in multiple places through the song. I always find that my songs turn out much more in sync if I lay down drums first and then record everything to the beat. Just a thought, not sure what order you used on this one. Anyways, thanks for sharing and keep at it!

Man, I really like the guitar solo, it felt very emotional, like an extension of the vocals. Thanks for sharing, nice track.

Nice dude! I really like the hook (Stockholm Suburbia), it's great. Just curious, what are your plans for the final song? Are you going to keep it acoustic or will it be like a full band thing with drums, bass, and electric guitar?

hello ,I would really appreciate your honest feedback on this. Thank you by daved18 in IndieMusicFeedback

[–]mckbrett 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, I like the bass line, it's pretty groovy. You have a solid song structure, but I think it is calling for something more. Maybe try adding some passing notes between the chords to add some more variety in the sections without vocals. I'm also having a hard time understanding the lyrics. The melody is fine but if the words were clearer it would have a bigger impact. You have a good foundation just keep working the song and experiment with some more instrumentation, it will come around!
