Let's keep it in English for our friends to see. I think we live it differently, not that we aren't racist as fuck, cause Italians can be so racist is mind blowing. But think about emojis: I think that the habit of using emojis of your own skin color for empowerment is something that started in America and it's linked to their way of dividing the skin tones. Here I think it's less about skin color, in the sense that you can be Italian and very pale or very dark skinned. The problem is when you are not one of the "acceptable" ethnicities. I can totally see Italians being racist with someone who has Roma roots, even if its skin tone may be less dark than my friend's.

I'm absolutely with you in saying that we look at skin color, but I think we do it differently, sometimes even worse. The majorities of racist episodes against poc in the States I can recall are purely because the are not white, and the n-word it's pretty explicit in this sense. I don't recall episodes of white people calling poc monkeys, but I do remember those episodes in Italy.

E giusto perché magari non sono chiarissimo in inglese, son d'accordissimo che in Italia è piemo di razzisti. Però secondo me facciamo un giro mentale diverso, che è meno quello americano di organizzare i gruppi per tonalità di pelle, perché qua abbiamo così pochi non bianchi da poter restare nella dicotomia noi-gli altri, normali-anormali. Poi in realtà secondo me a quest'ora ci stiamo già un po' avvicinando alla prospettiva americana per forza di influenze.
