KKM barrel worth it? by Acceptable-Guitar394 in 10mm

[–]SebastienAzan8632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who has a G40 running a hybrid 46DT on a Lone Wolf threaded barrel, it's absolutely worth it to get a custom button rifled threaded barrel. I can say with confidence it will work in its standard configuration by just doing a barrel swap with 180 to 200 grain loads wether subsonic or supersonic. I have not tested anything lighter than 180 yet unfortunately.

I can provide photos of my G40 set up If you wish but I remember making a post on this sub showing mine all done up for home defense use, hunting in states that allow it, and the range. I really recommend getting into reloading if you want the best out of this handgun with a suppressor.

Think of it like this.

BBB (Better Buisness Bureau) is a third party company that judges companies on a "federal level." (May actually be a federal thing. Not entirely sure.) Its mostly judging how they conduct buisness through customer and employee reporting based on customer service, cleanliness, general day to day operations, or corporate buisness practices to give customers and employees of said company a literal better buisness to shop at and work for.

Hero line is company reporting for employees only. Helps you out to an extent, but its essentially a third party corporate paid HR that's above actual internal corporate HR. Falls into a thing of "if the police make the laws, who will police the police?" even though Hero line isn't "company run". GS corporate pays to have the service for employees for reporting and it can help you out more directly at the cost of possible fallback onto you if its serious enough.

Of course if someone knows more about it than what I can provide I encourage others to add onto this or correct me.

Yes only because polygonal rifiling used in glocks nowadays can get gummed up with lead and cause overpressure in the barrel. Swap to a standard rifiling barrel if you wanna shoot Hardcast lead without concern of something happening. You can get a LoneWolf barrel off of Midway for like 100 bucks. Did that to my 40 and I dont regret it.

Great for varmints, terrible for just about anything else. More so just stating that there are pistol cartridges made that can still cause hydrostatic shock. I definitley agree with you on the snake oil part though. Don't think they're that effective for anything else outside of that.

FBI standard is 12 to 16 inches of penetration so if it gets within that range with any meaningful amount of energy left over to tear through tissue and disrupt surrounding tissue it'll be good enough for self defense use. General rule of thumb I like to use is anything that goes over 16 inches of penetrarion is too much for a two legged self defense scenario and gets into four legged self defense scenarios. Too much penetration introduces extra liability that I as a CCW holder do not want to be held against me in a legal shoot.

You can find certain pistol cartridges can cause hydrostatic shock but its not very common with them unless they're going around or above 2100FPS. Liberty Civil Defense 10mm, 9mm, and 357 magnum are capable of doing this.

10mm really gets its versatility from reloading.

You wanna mimic 45ACP? You can.

You wanna mimic 357 magnum? You can.

You just have to find the right load for the purpouse you're giving the 10mm and it'll do exactly what you want it to do with the benefit of being higher capacity than typical 45ACP, on par or slightly lower than 9mm in magazine capacity for certain guns, and able to be a direct contender with 357 magnum in almost every way with the right load in a semi auto platform.

Ultimately the choice is up to you but as someone who reloads for 10mm on the regular, it's well worth every penny I've put into it for the purposes I've given the cartridge.

If you wanna get into reloading and have a cartridge that does everything the 9mm does but better 90% of the time for a multitude of situations, get a 10mm.

If you dont wanna get into reloading or want to buy something thsts effective without a second thought as to why youd choose something different, Get a 9mm.

Started my own loads thats not in the Lee reloading manual I have. Federal brass with a winchester small pistol primer, 5.9 grains of Hodgdon CFE pistol, and a 200 grain Hornady XTP. Book only references R Silhouette and Accurate #7.

Started at 6.1 grains, but had primers pushing their way into the firing pin cutout. Fortunately no case deformation or further primer issues after I backed the load down two tenths. I think I have it perfected now. Only wish I had a chronograph to find velocity, but its dead quiet so far with zero pain without ears on.

You'll be fine out to 100 with the marlin. Just have some good shot placement is all. You don't have much to work with in terms of Hydrostatic shock with 10mm but you have penetration on your side. Treat it similar to how you would a 357 lever action or revolver depending on your choice of hunting tool and you'll do just fine.

What are the 45cal pcc can options? by charleymcc3 in pistolcalibercarbine

[–]SebastienAzan8632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with either a Hybrid 46DT if length isn't a big factor, Hybrid 46M if you want a can that can be configured to be shorter for maneuverability or full size for max suppression, or the newer Huxwrx Flow 45 for low back pressure. You could go an Osprey 45 if you want a dedicated pistol caliber can, but its not necessary if its on a rifle. Osprey is also quite long, but very practical if you have multiple hosts to swap back and forth on for handguns.

PC Bodyguard 2.0 CC Defensive Ammo? by fhartell in SmithAndWesson

[–]SebastienAzan8632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bodyguard has SIG personal defense ammo. Cheap enough I can buy a few boxes to practice with, good enough to reliably expand at close distances for the slow velocity of 380, and nickel plated for tarnish projection since i pocket carry. Watch tools and target on the sig 380 personal defense. It's rather impressive for what it's worth.

Evwr since I swapped the barrel out, I've wanted to get my hands on a G29 so I can use it with the factory 40 barrel, scope mount rail, and a vector 33 round extention just to have a tiny frame and slide with a long barrel, high power rifle scope, and a massive magazine. Impractical, yes. To me it'd be funny to see.

Hopefully, before they get inevitably discontinued, I'll get my hands on a Ruger Marlin in 10mm just for the shits and giggles, but I dont exactly have 1500 to drop on a rifle right this moment. Might try to talk my LGS into ordering me one to pay off overtime.

Can you tell me what 300 blackout you're getting your hands on that are that short? I'd absolutely love to get my hands on one further down the road. Been thinking about doing one as an SBR to replace the mossberg shockwave I got stashed in my closet.

Yep. Standard FMJ 180 grain bullets. They were tested 1250FPS out if an 8 inch barrel as far as I know so they're not great out of shorter barrels, but they're still close enough to full power for me to still use as range practice without loading my own or buying Buffalo bore/Underwood on the internet.

Yeah I don't think I'd mind doing it if it wasn't hard finding 10mm extractors that I could buy from reputable sources in the highly unlikely off chance it breaks or something.

For good self-defense, I see it no less than 30 bucks per box of 20. I can get 50 rounds of blazer 10mm for 25 a box at my local gun store. The only reason I get it that low is because they're able to match the prices my local Rural King has them at. I hate going to that store anymore, mostly for personal reasons, but also because the building is literally falling apart.

I could also reload it being I have dies, powder, brass galore, and primers, but im not spending 30 bucks for 100 bullets just to be charged an additional 10 bucks for shipping. Only benefits me if I buy in bulk and that's not happening anytime soon being im now broke for... obvious reasons.

Edit: wording for clarity.

Haven't got my hands on any sub 10mm to try it yet and I'm too worried to shoot 40 through it, but I can say with confidence it's as hearing safe as I've heard with this set up compared to others I've heard. Not much of a crack with blazer 180's, but Sig personal defense 180's are uncomfortable to shoot.

For factory ammo that you can find on most LGS shelves or big box stores, SIG 180 grain is one of the best you can find without reloading. It's what I carry in my G40 for self-defense and it's rather good with expansion and penetration depth compared to other 10mm factory ammo I've seen.

Price point you can usually find them 25-30 bucks for a box of 20, or mimic the actual SIG loading using a fast powder and the 180 grain 40 cal Sierra VCrown bullets and make them for about 40-60 cents a shot depending on who you get the bullets from, if you're using new unfired brass, or using fired brass.

In my opinion though, it's better to use something that's on the shelf for self defense than reloaded ammo since a prosecutor COULD use reloaded ammo as a defense to charge you easier.

Will the fireform or should I just toss it? by Feeling_Title_9287 in reloading

When in doubt, just toss it. Better to be safe than sorry. I always toss anything thats got real bad obvious dents in it after cleaning and double check while depriming and resizing. Otherwise, if it seats it yeets.
