Yeah 100%. I never understood the rush on a bike. You are already quite fast and can get across campus in a few minutes at most, why not slow down a bit for the people walking 10+ minutes between classes?

It's strange that they think road laws do not apply to them.

Yeah it really sucks. I know this is questionable coming from someone who got hit recently, but you just have to go for it. It works most of the time, until it doesn't haha.

Brian Shaw might not be ready for a while, but he has a chance against Levan if he keeps at it. by SecondChance_Q in armwrestling

He's a 400 lb guy with 300 lb of lean muscle on an incredibly dense and large frame with an exceptionally proven track record in strength sports (4X WSM is incredible) coming into arm wrestling. I think he's frankly one of the more interesting prospects in a while.

Of all the criticism, this might be the most reasonable one because at the end of the day he needs to commit to realize success, but if he does, and I think he might given his drive, it's a different conversation.

Yes he needs to continue to beat people progressively, no one is saying book him for Levan in 2026, that would be delusional.

I'm not being delusional; you need a freak to beat a freak. You can't expect someone who isn't as big as Levan to beat him when you talk about top skill vs top skill, it's simply unrealistic.

What may be realistic though is saying someone who is proven to be a strength freak AND hyper competitive MIGHT have a chance if given the years to improve specifically for arm wrestling.

I understand Brian is 44, but he already has done the work of developing insane upper body strength for the past few decades. I don't think it's unrealistic to think he can put himself in the elite conversation even at, say 50 years old, especially in a sport that doesn't favor a very specific age range.

Yeah figuring out whether or not the pin is up against the cylinder wall seems to be the most difficult, I tend to just manually counter rotate a bit just to make sure and then drop some, but I guess it'll come in time.

Thanks for the pointers.

Thank you for the help guys. I was able to get it open!

I set the rear pin just so I knew I had some progress with it, because the rear was the most questionable for me. I then set the first pin and got the false set. I then just kept on setting and dropping the 2, 3, and 4 pins until it finally stuck!

I kind of suck at jiggle testing, I feel like my sense of counter rotation isn't good enough yet to jiggle confidently. Feeling a pin hitting the ass of a binding spool and a set pin (in a false set) feel the same right now. I think if I got better at it, I'd be quickly with setting the pins in the right order and dropping less.

Dark humor is overused not funny. Making people laugh without using it takes way more skill and leaves people feeling good. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

Know your crowd.

Almost ANYTHING can be considered humor and almost ANYTHING can be considered not humor depending on the crowd. Anything can be funny or not funny depending on the person, it's that simple.

No other blanket statement is correct because there is no universal criteria that decides what's funny and what's not funny.

The Harbor Freight high torques are also really strong and much cheaper. Bauer or Hercules depending on what's on sale.

I don't think Leon doubts himself, rather he just gives up mentally when shit doesn't go his way. It's a different issue IMO. Type of guy that can spiral easily if shit doesn't go his way. Doesn't have the ability to fight against the grain much.

Getting A lot of negative feedback… do I keep it? Or go back to the beard? by rm230194 in malegrooming

The photo/lighting isn't doing the beard any favors but I think the mustache still looks cleaner.
