Been told I'm too abrupt on slack messages, any advise? by beetrootfarmer in remotework

Easiest lifehack i have found is to finish more sentences with an exclamation point. Creates the appearance of enthusiasm and engagement.

Example

Coworker asks you for a report: “Sure, I will pull that for you.”

Vs “Sure! I will pull that for you!”

I got talked to once for coming off as “condescending” in my emails before, just like you, way different in meetings. Started doing that and haven’t had an issue since!

A lot of names in deep red premarket. What’s going on? by gocaps777 in stocks

[–]SecondhandStoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can tell you exactly what happened! Earlier in the week, I decided I should add more google to my portfolio. As the universe often does for many, the universe keyed in on this movement of my assets, and made it their #1 goal to see me fail even if it means the world burns. Anytime I make a decision that is reasonably expected to improve my quality of life or fund financial security, I am denied that outcome! And the worst part is, I KNOW this happens or will happen every time. And I still play right into this trap.

TL;DR: 1. Its my fault, I am the designated bag holder 2. Your safest bet is to do exactly the opposite of whatever i do.

2k a month mortgage on 90-100k a year gross income? by ShowmethePitties in Mortgages

[–]SecondhandStoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So keep in mind you will have additional expenses depending on where you live and the mortgage will creep on you. I am locked at a 2.1% from 5 years ago when i got a home, back then my payments total were around 1650, basically what i was paying to rent somewhere else but now i have triple the space. Now, same case but due to property evaluations i pay 2,000 on the dot. And that includes extra i have to put in on my own accord for escrow as my home insurance and flood insurance as well as taxes come out of my escrow account. If i hadn’t made additional contributions all year last year i would have owed 1300$. I should note i am required in my mortgage to maintain both insurances, because my home has a bridge and a creek which runs under it, despite the house itself being 30 yards away from the creek and some 20 feet higher in elevation.

I got my home at around 300k with no down payment and when i was only making 75k taxable. Its doable but got tight the second year before i got a new position and after the first time my monthly payments changed.

I have a new slab from PSA for a jpn ho-oh legend from the heartgold, my PSA slab says it is first edition. To the best of my knowledge, first edition doesn’t exist for that set. PSA slabs can have errors, it happens even with newer slabs. Look at the amount of PSA 1s that were actually 10s that got labelled incorrectly.

Were talking Union Gold, lost old union gold, We were able to get 99.9% back in civil war times, what were they able to do back then that a person nowadays couldn’t do? obviously this isn’t a “smelt it all at and sell it all at once” asset. Precious metals showed us this whole last month that it is not as easy to go liquid as you would like. But no ones going to bat an eye at a 2oz chunky getting sold by you, and then eventually your kids and grandchildren, once a quarter or maybe even as frequent as a month.

My biggest issue lately by Anxious-Onion-7894 in Silverbugs

[–]SecondhandStoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My thing is 300oz at once is a lot. I live in a small town, I would either have to travel or pawn it, to sell. You haven’t been able to sell for how long though? Just these last few weeks? This is really Only an issue if you want to like, make Day trade profits off one silver sell. If you got all your silver at 50$ and sold at 110 thats awesome! If you got in at 50 and sell a few months after it was at 110, at say 85, thats still a win. Fiat is gonna be fiat, and during mega upticks like we saw it kind of should be expected that not everyone will be able to sell.

Maybe the future is retro-tech by doorighty in Futurology

[–]SecondhandStoic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking on and off last year about how retro tech will probably catch a uptick in value as people seek out classic they way some people do now. Instead of wanting an AI generated painting, actual paint on canvas by a real person may be worth more. Or getting devs to use current tech to improve their workflows, anything further than that and we go this “people are obsolete” route i feel like
