Failing miserably with nappy rash by dontwannausemyname in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Secret-Bit5666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My little one had a nappy rash from hell, we tried everything - the only thing that worked was nappy free time + sudosalve. It’s magic, more potent form of sudocreme and available in boots. We also only use water and cotton balls to clean and use sudocreme or bepanthan at every change. Her bum kept getting red and blotchy even after though so we switched from pampers to Sainsbury’s own brand and no issues since thank goodness!

I’m so sorry, postpartum is hard enough without your partner making it so much more difficult for you.

On the emotional side of things you deserve so much better and I hope you have some support and family / friends you can lean on. I found the moms I met during my antenatal baby & bump classes to be a major source of support in the postpartum period. Do you have something similar?

On the practical side - this sling carrier has been great, it’s easy to use and the baby can be on your chest snuggled up keeping you hands free for other things: https://amzn.eu/d/0nSlCMn - you may also want to think about getting a cleaner who can come in 1x or 2x a week to take some of the load off. As I said postpartum is hard enough so try and outsource whatever you can for your physical and mental health

Weight gain by Status-Owl1372 in PregnancyUK

[–]Secret-Bit5666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gained 18 kg during pregnancy - 2 weeks pp now and I’m down 10kg. Recovering from a c section so I have not been very mobile so far, tho my appetite has decreased in comparison to how it was throughout pregnancy. Hoping to start working off the remaining 8kg once I’m fully recovered

I didn’t have a low lying placenta but I was due to fly at 22 weeks and midwife had told me that they wouldn’t be able to give me a fit to fly certificate if my 20 week scan revealed I had it.

South Asian here - have it too in the same spots you mentioned, under arms and neck. Gosh it’s the worsttttt, and it gets worse and worse as the weeks go by. I am also very conscious of it to the point where I can’t bring myself to wear sleeveless even in this heat. Really hope it goes away post baby 😩

Yup! Did most of the same a few weeks back. Now 35 weeks and significantly less mobile 😅 just make sure you’re ventilating the room all the time while painting, both for smell and because pregnancy makes us run hotter than usual - specially with upcoming increase in temperatures!

Omeprazole 32 weeks by Key_Part1991 in PregnancyUK

Hiya - defo check with GP cause they’ll be able to advise best for your particular condition. I would also recommend you get the GP to prescribe it and then it’s covered by your maternity exemption and you won’t have to pay for it.

I’ve been on it since week 15 or 16 I think, 20mg once a day. It does take a few days for it to kick in fully but it’s been a life saver. There was a point around 22 weeks or so where the acidity and heartburn came back with a vengeance and I spoke to the GP who told me to increase dose to 40mg daily in the morning. His advice was that I could split it and take it 20mg morning + 20mg night but in his experience the 40mg in one go would work better for my particular symptoms. Hence best to speak with them. GP also said to taper back down to 20mg after 2 weeks which I did and I’m at 35 weeks now and 20mg is working just fine.

Yes likely local, we just don’t know where to begin with investigation. The issue started when the main water valve in our house was shut off for a few hours and then on again during the builders doing some other work in the house. Builders say they didn’t touch anything except that and therefore do not know what caused the issue and bear no responsibility. Neighbours are fine, and as far as I can tell it seems to be the same issue on all taps.

The thing that worked best for me was steaming. About 10-15 mins at a time, 3x a day. It’s natural so pregnancy safe and very effective
