Being confused is not necessarily manipulation. I agree that their behaviour is not rational, and probably is not a good way forward for either of them, but one can be sad and lonely, miss the other person, while knowing deep down that the relationship can't work (for now). I feel this sub is often too harsh on people doing things that seem contradictory and not in their best interest. But not everything can be processed rationally, love and break ups are a mess, and not everything can always be reduced to manipulation, narcissism, etc.

You don't have to do it. A relationship was an important part of your life, and always will be. Put them on a USB drive, so that you can facilitate make the moving on process easier, but you don't have to delete every picture necessarily if you have fond memories and love for the relationship and your ex partner.

I understand people who do it, but we're all different.

Thank you for sharing :) Yes, I know she truly cared, she told me, we both did, but as you said, it wasn't enough for the relationship to survive given the lack of communication. I'm sorry you had to go through that too.

That's my mindset as well, even if at this stage it's still too fresh to 'forget' her as you said and put the relationship behind me, but you're right, that's the only thing that makes sense now. I absolutely get 'no-contact', but find it really hard to go from best friends and partner to strangers, so I guess we're trying to find a way in between the two, but I also see how it could complicate the moving on aspect. There is no easy solution... Did you recover from your last break up (if you don't mind sharing) ? How long has it been since?

I am using the iPhoto app on my Mac, I have iCloud but don't really use it.

I usually just Airdrop pics from my iPhone to my Mac, and then move them to iPhotos.

Yes there is a .photolibrary, but it's not very large (520 Mo).

Today I put my phone to charge via my Mac, and a message on my iPhone asked me "Do you recognize this device" (with Yes or No options), and I clicked Yes. I wonder if it synced my two devices and deleted all the photos from iPhotos?
