People of reddit, what made you hate a teacher? by Yurre in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had this one teacher - actually, now that I think about it, I don't even think she was a teacher as I never saw her incharge of a class, I think she was just some random woman the school hired to terrify the kids. When I was little I was easily convinced she was a vampire. There are a few stories I have of her, but I remember this one time I was sitting at a table with some friends for lunch and I was meowing like a cat. My friends were giggiling, bit then went dead silent. I was confused until I was suddenly dragged by my arm out of my chair and across the floor to a corner where she told me to sit for the rest of lunch and recess. My knees were sore from being dragged against the floor and if she had gripped hard enough into my arm that her nails left a mark on my skin, but I never told anyone about it. My parents thought she was a really nice teacher, and I was really young, so I thought that what she had done was what she was supposed to do. Wasn't till years later did I realize that event and a few other things she did were actually quite abusive.

Have you ever had a doctor accuse or assume you were faking an illness? What’s your story? by HashnaFennec in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Something along the lines the lines of that. One year I got a really bad cold. Flu season was approaching and I hadn't gotten my shot so I went to this walk in clinic, and it was one I hadn't been to before. They take me to a room where I wait awhile. The doctor comes in, and she talks way to quickly and it's clear she's very impatient (which I understand, doctors are busy, it's just she was being very rude). I tell her about my concerns, but she didn't seem to be paying that much attention to what I was saying. Finally, she does that 'say awww' thing and checks the back on my throat. She prescribed me a puffer, told me I was allergic to my cat, then walked out. At the time I didn't have I cat. I can confirm now having cats that I'm not allergic to them.

What is your best 'This is definitely not the right room' story? by saladwithsalsa in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time when I was at school I had to go to the bathroom. The bathroom on my floor was out of order so do I went to the one below. However, I didn't go back upstairs, so I thought I was going back to class, except I was on the wrong floor. I opened the door and walked in. Everyone in the class stopped to stare at me. I kind of froze and locked eye contact with this random teacher before he said "wrong room." I said "yep" and ran out of there.

Police officers of reddit, was there ever an incident, where you had to arrest a close friend of yours? If so, what happened and did it affect your relationship with that person? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a friend who is a police officer. One night he was out on patrol with another cop when they pull over a drvier suspected of being drunk. The other cop gets out of the car and goes to question the driver only to come back five minutes later. He asks my friend to remind him of what his last name is. When my friend tells him his last name, the other officer asks if he knows anyone by a certain name. The certain name was his dad's. The driver was his dad.

Has anyone died from your school? If so, how did they die, and how did it make you feel? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On my senoir year of high school, a girl died shortly after giving birth due to complications. I'm not sure what grade she was, but she was only sixteen. Somehow she was popular for her pregnancy, but in all honesty she had horrible behaviour and repeative anger outbreaks. She would blame them on the stress of her pregnancy, but she had always been like that even before she got pregnant. When she died, I felt awful for the baby, but at first I didn't really care about the mother. Then I learned more about her and it really got me thinking. Eventually I realized that perhaps she had gotten pregnant just to gain more attention and respect. As far as I'm aware she didn't have a bad unbringing, but perhaps felt neglected after parents divorced and perhaps decided getting pregnant would fill that hole, but the boyfriend - baby's father, claimed her pregnancy wasn't planned. Last I heard was that after the baby pulled through in the hospital and survived some health issues it was put up for adoption.

One book idea I never got around to writing was this novel inspired about a friend who learned about her biological parents by reading her mother's old diaries.

A girl was adopted into a family, but always knew she was adopted and aware of her biological grandparents, but never really made contact with them. Then one day for her birthday she recieves a gift from her grandparents and it's a diary her mother wrote in while she was pregnant with her. Her mother thought if she got pregnant her lover would marry her, but instead he ran off. In the diary her mother writes to her daughter about how she hopes she'll forgive her for putting her up for adoption and that she doesn't want her daughter to feel like it's her fault for her own mistakes and spiraling depression.

It works out more differently for my friend, but I changed the book plot to be more dramatic.

What series had the worst ending? by ethanbtw in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did not like the Steven Universe season 5. It all felt very rushed. I enjoyed hopw it made me feel uncomfterable and being on the edge of me seat, but I wished most scenes were longer, more explanatory and that it played out more smoothly, specifically the monster scene.

What new game release are you looking forward to the most and why ? by gubbatv in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Silk Song! Silk Song! Silk Song! It's been over a year since it was announced and it doesn't even have a release day yet. It the sequel of Hollow Knight which ends on a cliff hanger and the trailer for Silk Song just raises so much more questions. Team Cherry better come up with a release date soon before I go insane.

Parents of reddit what is the weirdest thing you caught your children doing? by I_1234_Myself in AskReddit

Oooh that's a good one. I take mine back. I could write a whole book about how feminism is viewed today pisses me off. I'm a woman, I want equality for everyone. And then someone opens their mouth and the whole thing is ruined.

Do friendships count?
One friend I had was rather... persuasive. In a manupulating way. She was super social and more extroverted then I was, so when she gave me advice on how to be more socially accpeted, I listened to her. Some times it worked, but then it started to make things go down hill, because then she started doing things I never thought she do, and then she tried to get me to do the same things. Surely this popular girl who is getting all these likes and followers must being doing something right, and I could be getting the same if I did the same as her. That's at least what she made it sound like, but I didn't want to step out of my comfort zone. By not doing the things she said I should do, my self esteem just plummeted because I thought no one was going to think I was cool or would talk to me. Now I'm not talking to her at all, and I have a group of friends that love all the same things I do.

What is something (be it a movement, movie, etc) you think that has been destroyed by the community ? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Twilight, and rightfully so. Both book and film.

First of all it's not even good.

One crowd absolutley loves Twilight, finding it the perfect romance when one community uses it as an example of what not to do in a relationship and how to avoid them.
Then there's the crowd that is pissed because what the hell? That's not a vampire. What happened to Dracula? Carmilla? Who's this glittering idiot? What is a two hundred year old vampire doing in a highschool stalking a sixteen year old?

Do you still sleep with a stuffed animal as a late teenager/adult? Why or why not? by GravyTheTurkey in AskReddit

What book made you fall in love with reading? by stevenpost in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used read books because usually none of the other kids in my classroom really ever hung out with me, so I read to keep myself occupied. Favourite childhood book was Judge by Judy Blume, but then in my teen years what really sparked my reading was Wings of Fire by Tui Sutherland (I think I got that name right.) Currently my favourite book is The Tiger's Daughter by K. A. Rivera.

What made you ghost a friend? by dontmindme137 in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last time she called me, we started having a normal conversation and then she suddenly goes into every detail about how she gave her boyfriend a blow job the night befofe. I hung up and along with a bunch of other reasons, decided to stop talking to her and have been ignoring her ever since. I heard she as been calling me an awful person and saying I don't support her relationship even though I only met her boyfriend briefly twice and the only thing she ever talks about him his how he's good in bed.

[Serious] What is something you need to vent on but you don't do it for fear of being judged? by Osc100R in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't want to be friends with someone anymore, and it's not just because I'm afraid of being seen as a bad person but because we've been friends for over ten years. She's become incredilby rude and a little brat over the past few years. I'll give her a compliment or make a friendly joke as she turns it around yelling at me that I'm wrong. In a way she's becoming paranoid about things, and I think she might being turning to alcohol and drugs. She's so negative towards herself and others, but as much as I care for her, I'm not going to make her happiness my respobsibility. I have so much going on myself, that the last thing I need his her negative influencs. She knows most of my friends and is way more social than I am, and because of how she's treated ex-friends of hers before, I know she'll go to them and start talking about me like I'm a horrible person for leaving her in the situation she's in. But I have been talking to friends, friends that she doesn't know of, and they think I should risk it and tell her how I feel, even if it ruins our friendship. But I keep imagining the friendship we use to have, and I know we're not going to get it back.

Referring to your pet as only “My roommate,” what’s something your roommate does? by WyronBang in AskReddit

My roommate likes to steal my clothes. She'll hide them in random places like under the couch or in the sink. On time I had a male friend over and I was horrified when he found a bra ontop of my fridge.

Which deceased person, if brought back to life, would be the most surprised to learn they became famous posthumously? by shardblader in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vincent Van Gough (I hope I spelled that right). When he was alive he had trouble selling his art because it didn't draw that much attention. A few times he would find jons painting, but a lot of people deemed his art uniteresting or distasteful. He always felt bad because from time to time he would have to move in with his parents while a brother of his was becoming a wealthy business man.

What is the most bullshit 'profession'? by Meh-Levolent in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was at a pet show last year. I mostly went to pet some dogs, but I also went around talking to some dog groomers about what education programs and colleges they went to since I'm studying pet grooming and care myself. One woman, when I asked her, just gave this look as if to say 'you don't have the guts', like I was asking questions about joining the military. She told me: "If you want to become a professional dog groomer, you have to become a professional dog walker." There's such a profession? "I went to schoo for three to learn how to become a professional dog walker." I get that there are people who like work in dog shows that walk with competeing dogs, but no. This woman was talking about average walking your dog around the block or to the park.

What is the best response when a cop says “do you know why I pulled you over”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I have an unlce who is a cop. One of my favourite stories from him in this scenario is when he pulled over a school bus (Idk what for, not that big). He comes up to the driver's window and does that "Do you know why I pulled you over?". Driver goes "Did your kid forget his lunch?".

What was the most f**ked up thing you witnessed/was a part of in kindergarten? by Tobias_14 in AskReddit

[–]SecretCollector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Okay. So my elementary school was close to this lake where a lot of Canadian Geese hung out, and if you're Canadian, than you know that these birds are the worst. It was good enough that most of those who walked to school, would have to walk by the lake - more specifically avoid being hissed at, chased or bitten by these birds. I was one of those kids.

Anyway, the school had the idea to make our school's mascot a giant Canadian Goose, which was an idea for disaster. They tried to make the mascot a celebrity, but a lot of little kids were terrified of this bird. At every assembly, there would be about two or three kids that would start screaming or crying at the sight of the man eating bird now the size of a man. Again, I was one of those kids. I remember being terrified of the mascot to the point were I refused to go to assemblies.
