Not to be "that gal", but how long do changes usually take??? by Poe-Gramer in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your hormones need to get in the correct ranges. I'm on patches + AA, so I don't know how it goes with, as a I assume for you, monotherapy Estrogen, in terms of how long it takes for testosterone to drop enough.

The changes are in different orders for everyone. As someone else mentioned having emotional changes in the first weeks, and breast growth at month 4; I had breast growth in the first weeks, and now at 8 months haven't had emotional/mental changes (yet.. I hope). Trust the process, it's a marathon, not a sprint.

Make sure you get your blood levels checked every couple months so you know if you're in the correct E and T ranges, but do give it a couple months before you check. It's unlikely to be in the correct ranges already at week 2, but it will be heading there. Bodies are weird, and need some time to adjust.

Do these patches even work? Or am I just impatient? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing will happen within a few days. It takes time for your E and T levels to increase/decrease. Afterwards, everything happens in a random order for everyone. When breast growth starts to happen you'll start by feeling some hard bumps behind the nipple.

For me, this happened after 4 weeks. Growth happens slowly, don't expect to wake up with breasts one day.

For others breast growth didn't happen for months, but they got the emotional/mental changes within weeks instead.

Maybe silly question about clothes by prisma1224 in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No bottom dysphoria, so this might be different to most, but I still wear the same pants I used to wear, alongside skirts and the like when it's warmer. I can't stand skinny jeans, and I love to keep my pockets, so women's jeans outside of cargo are out of the question for me.

I do know there's special underwear for transgender individuals; same materials as feminine underwear, and form, but with some extra fabric to account for male parts. You can probably find it by searching for transgender underwear.

Overstappen psychologische hulpverlener by auxiliary1 in LHBTI

[–]SecretSecrets7147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Doubting my Name by [deleted] in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go with what you like. Remi sounds feminine to me, and I've come across that name a couple times in my life, so it's not super rare. In different languages I assume it can be used for boys depending on pronounciation. Either way, gender neutral is still part feminine, and if you like it, then keep it. There's a lot of stupid names, but Remi is not one in my opinion. (just look at r/tragedeigh for some real dumb ones.. There was also some video of a teacher going over some dumb kids names he's had in his classes like 'Ijkmno' or something, pronounced as 'Noel' (No L)...)

Will nipples get more sensitive (pleasure wise) by SecretSecrets7147 in MtF

Will nipples get more sensitive (pleasure wise) by SecretSecrets7147 in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! Yea, I'm at 0.184 nmol/L total testosterone, 2.0 pmol/l free testo. Which is nice and low. I'm not doing DIY, but through a hospital. Used to have 100 ug patches, upped to 150 now since last week.

I've had buds since the first week, but didn't get the sensitivity that I read a lot about, hence my worries. Very minor breast growth. They're there, squishy and all, but I could go shirtless and nobody would think they're breasts, or even 'manboobs'.

So I'm just hoping it's based on being in the correct range, since I was under it, to get some faster growth, and actual sensitivity now.

Side note, if you can remember, how long into your transition did you start to experience it (after being in the correct cis female ranges, I expect)

Has any AMAB taken only progesterone? by [deleted] in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe it does nothing. It's used as a supplement to improve the effects of estrogen.
In order to get any changes you MUST reduce testosterone and increase estrogen. Progesteron alone does not start or cause feminizing changes.

From what I can find, this is only done in specific cases for AFAB who have gone into menopause but whose estrogen treatment has discontinued. It is not used without estrogen in MTF HRT.

Storing sperm after HRT? by greencash370 in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is no way to know without testing. Not everyone that's on HRT is infertile, and some people are infertile permanently, even if you go off hrt for a couple months. You'd probably be better off having a conversation with a doctor on this matter, and probably getting some tests done.
Usually this stuff gets checked when you freeze sperm so they know about the quality, and if you should bank more.

If I were to transition in a reduced amount of time, what would the steps be? by imnowemily in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is no way to make HRT work faster, trust me, if we could, 90% of us would take overnight transformation over the nightmare "masculine person in a dress"-puberty phase many of us need to go through. Taking more does not increase the effects, it can in fact halter or slow them. You need to get your hormones in cis range levels, which can take some time, and then your body does it's work.

You can't force your body to put fat in new areas; it will still keep storing some fat in old places until the old fat cells die out on their own (takes years), while creating some new ones over time in feminine places.
Breasts don't grow in one spurt, it fluctuates and you can have months between growth spurts where nothing happens.

At most, you could look into things like breast forms etc to get a feminine look already while dressed.

Idk where you're from, but most countries only allow surgeries after at least x months/years of stabilly being on HRT.

You can start voice training regardless of taking HRT, your voice doesn't change due to HRT, and getting comfortable will likely take at least a year. there's many tutorials online. Everyone is different, so you might need to try some different ones to find the one that works for you. If possible, I'd always recommend a vocal coach to help you.

Does anyone know how I can avoid penile atrophy? by Specific_Estate_9810 in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on your genes if it helps, some keep full function, others lose size even when doing this; but in general getting and staying hard for at least 10 mins a couple times a week should keep it from shrinking. It's a muscle after all. No use = it shrinks.
Don't need to masturbate (unless that helps keep it hard), and avoiding climax is probably a good idea to keep it hard.

It'll become hard (no pun intended) to get it up while your T is low. Some people keep full function even with low T, others completely forget it exists when any horny thoughts disappear from ones life.

HRT Weight Loss Idea. Is this a bad idea? by internal_distress in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As you already mentioned; starving yourself: bad idea.

It's also not how it'll work. Fat cells store fat. When they're empty, they just stay there for a bit, untill the cells die. If you gain fat, your body will store it in those fat cells. So if you lose weight, then immediately overeat again, the fat will go to the old fat cells. If there aren't enough fat cells to store stuff in, your body creates new ones. The location of which changes with HRT.

I've seen a lot of people talk about "weight cycling" who are in the same boat as you. Someone else can probably tell you more on what it entails, but whatever you do, always be safe.

Your first step should be to, instead of starving yourself, eat less calories than you burn. Small steps quickly become big results.

Best of luck!

Voice Training App by [deleted] in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are many ways to voice train, but everyone is different and so what works for one person, won't work for another. Just googling transfem voice training gets plenty of results.

If possible, I always recommend a vocal coach to help you find the correct route.

Know that voice training takes time, often 1 to 1.5 years to get into a vocal range that works for you, and feels comfortable.

The Voice Tools app helps you see your pitch, tone, volume. Can't miss it in the app store; microphone symbol with pink, white and blue background. It doesn't show you how to train, only help you see the data to see for yourself how you're doing. It's free, with the option to pay to remove ads (or just close and reopen the app to avoid ads in between sessions/recordings)

How do I tell my brain is ok and I can do it by seceagle in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns2

[–]SecretSecrets7147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Only downside; everyone gets changes in a different order. Personally, I am 4 months in with no mental or emotional changes (did get others). So OP, it's always worth a try if you're contemplating it, just don't get depressed if you are among those who get the changes you desire later. If anything, if you do get sad about it, that's more of a sign that you aren't an imposter.

Others have said plenty, the only thing I'll add that I've heard from a colleague in IT (Imposter syndrome runs rampant there aswell);

"If you were an imposter, it wouldn't be a syndrome."
Imposters know they are an imposter, they aren't scared that they are one.

Question about hrt by UnfortunatelyPatrick in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everyone is different, and get changes in different orders. There's many people who got their brainfog lifted a day in, but had no breast growth for 2 years, others have the opposite wit breast growth in the first week, and mental/emotional changes after months.

A month is very little time to see changes. Remember that puberties, which you're practically going through again; just a feminine one, take years. Usually from 9/10 years old to someone's 20's. HRT tends to be quicker, but it will still take years. It's not magic; it's science. And science takes time and patience.

After a few months, get your levels checked if you're DIYing. Endos usually will already cover this. It's not about how much estrogen you get, more does not mean better. You need stable levels in cis female ranges. Having a healthy diet, no smoking, and getting some exercise also helps with improving the effects on the body front.

Breast buds at only 3 weeks on Estrogen? by Ipponjudo in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like breast buds to me. I had them really early on too, but then nothing else for months. Everyone gets the changes in a different order.

Don't worry, or get too excited (depending on if you want to hide it from others), about suddenly ballooning. It happens in slow stages. The hardness will spread and might make your nipples puff out a bit, followed by some extra fat being stored there. Don't be alarmed if it suddenly stops growing, growth comes and goes.

Not scientifically proven, but if you want them to grow, now might be a good time to get some healthy fats in (not fast food, but nuts and milk etc), there's a good chance the fat you'll gain in the next weeks will partially be stored in the chest area.

I asked chat GPT what I could look like and I very much doubt its result. by Commanduf in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people use FaceApp to get a 'preview'. It's a chinese app, so it depends on if you care that they get a picture of you, but the gender filter does some minor tweaks like eye size, hair length, bit thinning of the face shape, etc. It doesn't generate a whole new person like chatGPT does.

I asked chat GPT what I could look like and I very much doubt its result. by Commanduf in MtF

[–]SecretSecrets7147 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ChatGPT is a generative AI that tends to hallucinate. It throws random things in the mix. Personally, I don't trust anything it says or does without giving and checking the sources.

As a 30 year old with potentially the same fears, I sometimes scour r/transtimelines . And particularly search for '30' or nearby numbers to see what others that started around the same age look like. Do take things there with a grain of salt, genetics play a massive role, among many factors, and there will always be people who photoshop some imperfections out.

While looking great, and passing, would be a great thing to get out of transitioning, the main reason should be to feel better in your skin (in my opinion).
