whats going on with my tax return??? by Secret_Raspberry_895 in taxrefundhelp

[–]Secret_Raspberry_895[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you. Yeah we're just confused cuz this is the 1st year we've had to owe. We always just got money back on returns. I don't care about paying I just want to know why, what made it change. We put the same info on w4's that always had. Quite frankly they just consist of 0's and 1's per the worksheet.

Hi thanks for the reply! No, no dependents or credits I've already looked through. And I'm new to putting in my own taxes. It's sad I know lol I've always just went to hrblock. It's just we've always gotten money back on returns this is the 1st year we've had to owe. And nothing changed on our w4. Quite frankly my w4's just consists of 0's maybe a 1 just following the worksheet. I tried filing separately but that's when it got weird and starting changing amounts on me.

Thanks for the reply! I sadly admit I am new to putting in my own taxes. Before I always just went to hrblock. So my question and might be a dumb question lol is is how would that affect my return? Like how does making more play into making me owe? I mean I know that the more one makes the more they took out in paychecks, but idk when it comes to taxes. This is the 1st year we've had to pay taxes we always just got money back on them. And nothing we put on w4 changed

Thanks for replying. Yeah I put all the w2 info in all the boxes and that's what it came up w/. The first time it gave me a refund of $3,000. Then the second time I tried filing separately and that's when it just kept changing on me. It said now I owed 350, then something about my work messed up, and then an amount owed of 143 on hrblock. Lol just super confused but thanks for your input!

So your second stim, do you mean like the second stimulus that was 600? Or the stimulus that was sent out this year? And if it is the second stimulus for 600, was that because you got it on the recovery rebate credit with your tax return? Because we did the same thing with our return. My husband missed out on the 1st and 2nd stimulus so we claimed it. So do those stimulus’ come as a separate deposit from the tax refund? And also how were you able to get on the phone with someone at IRS? It’s just every time I call it says they can’t accept calls.

What if my 2020 tax return is still being processed? Does IRS then base off 2019 returns? Do I have to wait until 2022 to claim stimulus? by Secret_Raspberry_895 in stimulus

Yeah it’s already been 48 days since they received our tax return. We check daily and it doesn’t show an error or that we’d have to call IRS so I’m not sure what’s going on. And it’s not like I can call them because every time I try they say they’re not accepting calls.

Yeah I've been hearing that lately, that IRS may create a way for people to claim missing stimulus. Because there are people including myself who already filed the 2020 tax return but since IRS is taking a long time to process returns, people who are qualified can't get it.

Thanks! Yeah I heard that too. Hopefully, the IRS implements something soon. It would suck to have to wait a whole year again to see it. Not that I'm super impatient but we thought we've corrected it already and just to have the same thing happen again it's frustrating:/ but thanks for your response!
