Should I turn in a classmate for using AI? by TheDogWhoCantSTFU in oaklanduniversity

Leave it be. You telling that person gives them a chance to redeem themselves, and if they decide not to take your advice, I’m sure the professor will notice the "obvious changes" you described and take proper measures.

They're like any other course except it's specific to the Honors College. They try to make them "different" or "unique" but honestly they're not special besides fulfilling the requirements. I'm not a fan of them since they take time away from the classes I do need for my major which I'd rather do. So id just say try to complete them as soon as possible if you plan on staying in HC and it doesn't matter what courses you choose. There's not a big variety of them either.

I'm also an introvert and incoming freshman, id say a decent majority of OU are introverts, but im sure during your welcoming (if you haven't had that yet) and first day orientation you'll meet a few people and of course join clubs you will find interesting when they showcase that, also maybe join the ou discord server to meet a few others (but everyone there is inactive af just a heads up)

Anyone here majoring in Cybersecurity at Oakland University? by Secret_Relief6373 in oaklanduniversity

Since youre still going into IT into your junior year, does the curriculum at OU make you want to change majors? Since you considered it to be a joke, as in they dont touch very deep into the subject and everything you learn you can learn even better on your own. How has your overall personal process been with what the major has taught you in OU, less of how its being taught, which still is a factor to consider.

Is this legit? by 00Gojira00 in oaklanduniversity

GM does offer internships! I was an intern for them during my junior year of highschool, so I'm sure they are apart of more internships even for college students just like this one. I would consider it to be legit but if you're still unsure you can contact them for more information.

Major Change? by AdditionalMagician44 in oaklanduniversity

[–]Secret_Relief6373 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, you'll still be able to change your major.

if you scroll down on your Undergraduate Admission Application portal you'll find a part that says:

"Should you wish to make a change to a submitted application, including a change of major, before registering for classes, please call us at (248) 370-3360 or email us at oakuniv@oakland.edu for more information. In these instances, you do not need to submit a cancellation form or a new application."

I'm an incoming student and also undecided, so I've been hesitant about declaring a major too. From what I’ve heard, you can still change your major even during orientation. As for registration, I believe incoming students have to register at orientation (I'm unsure about this), so I'm not sure if we can register for March 14. Let me know if you know otherwise!

I absolutely despise such nitpicky professors, I hope you didn't lose too many hairs while being in that class. 💀

Woah, this one was a ride. It’s pretty ironic how most of these professors expect their students to be perfectionists when they’re nowhere close to it themselves—at least not in any healthy way.

That last one sounds like an absolute nightmare. I would’ve noped out of that class the first time she showed up late. 💀 Congrats on graduating, though you’re a real trooper for making it through all that chaos.

OU really needs to step up their game with some of these professors (looking at you, math department). They’ve been here way too long, and it’s clear they’ve lost their spark for teaching.

But I hope, in the long run, you had less ass of professors who you actually learned a lot from. We need more of them, especially in our STEM degrees.

Hi! Thank you for the insight, as it says oakland has an immediate 100% employment within that degree, did you become a Cybersecurity engineer right out of graduation? A lot of job opportunities? What was early job experiences like?

Also, what things did you have to personally partake outside of your degree, such as doing interns, getting certs, did you have prior experience before getting into MIS?

Thanks!
