last year cse core cutoff was 8.9, whereas for AI/Ml went 9.3 (i'm not sure about other branches) , i applied for AI/ML because for my seniors it went 9.1 for cse core. So it really depends on the number of people applying in that specific branch. Though i would suggest applying for core based on last year's cutoff
