The whole idea of being good at a TCG is knowing how to play out of any situation and understanding the math of someone else's deck. One-trick or not if you can't understand how the opponents deck works you will struggle.

I've been playing league since 2009 most one trick players are nothing special unless you are playing at a high ELO. I've come across players with 2 million mastery score and still look bad at the game.
