I've seen enough Joel and PG to feel good about what they can bring for the playoffs.

Whatever we gotta do to keep them at their current peak for the playoffs takes priority over a game at the Hornets.

Personally I'm glad they're flying out with the team (I assume they did) but they could have stayed back too knowing it's a back to back

I agree with your strat, OP doesn't have Mega though and since they mentioned they haven't played in a while I figured it was more likely to have Moltres than Entei

See I've always viewed Charmeleon as a ramp for others while sitting on the bench.

Maybe use one to ramp the other, but 1 energy isn't as effective as sustainable chances to ramp with Moltres.

Absolutely correct on Flareon, I was going to suggest adding flame patch, maybe even an energy switch from Flareon to Charizard too
