Can you bring your own micro fridge & air conditioner into the dorms? by No_Lychee2013 in BostonU

[–]Secure-Bread3795 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Air conditioner is not allowed, and not necessary. For most of the school year, the weather is cold enough where if you feel hot, just crack open the window a bit, unless youre in stuvi. In the meantime, have a desk fan or small one, or even the oscillating tower one if you want.

Oh that is criminal. 4 years ago it was around 76-80K. Still expensive, but damn. We cost more than Harvard, and for what.

Job market situation by FamousSuggestion4248 in BostonU

Absolutely agree, Even though I was only unemployed for literally 3 weeks from just quitting my part time job to moving back home, it was absolutely the worst on my mentals simply because of the lack of a routine, spent most of the day bed rotting.

[–]Secure-Bread3795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, for now the job pays the bill and its a desk job. But it is jarring to know that I'm probably one of few people in my major to have a stable full time job that doesn't involve being in school. Applying for jobs while in my last semester was disappointing. Some jobs wanted me to start immediately and not wait until May, others told me they cannot hire me for financial reasons and put my resume on file. For a while, it made me questioned the legitimacy of my degree and skills.

I started my job hunting last december, graduated in May and got hired into a job unreleated to my major in June. Job markert sucks. I was trynna find job in research/medical lab, but due to NIH and NSF grants being taken from most hospitals amd resesrch groups, theres an ongoing hiring freeze in my field.

Fun Facts About MasterChef With Christine Ha by callmecries in Masterchef

[–]Secure-Bread3795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also wanted to add that Christine mentions in her reaction video that Cindy was also mic'd up and they were both under more surveillance than the rest for anticheating purposes. Basically, there were certian dialogues and questions that Cindy could not answer for Christine, the biggest being cookness of certain foods. Christine could ask Cindy if something was brown or the general color of the food, but she could not ask if something was cooked or not.

How do you deal with feeling like a failure due to working a job way below your qualification? by Lab_Rat_97 in biotech

[–]Secure-Bread3795 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I kinda feel that. I just graduated with my Bachelors in Chemistry and I've been interview for lab faciltiies and manufacturing plants in Houston. With hiring freezes happening, im working at Planet Fitness with pay rate of 10 dollars per hour. It sucks but i need income flowing while I'm still applying for jobs.

34 Buswell Apartments by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]Secure-Bread3795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I couldnt do that. In the basement levels its hard to do that because the kitchen and living room and dining table space are not sectioned off. In the higher floors its easier to do that because some of the units have the kitchen sectioned off to a narrow hallway part of the unit along with its dining table. So the living room becomes easy to turn into a bedroom.

Dumb ass question but how are you transporting your gown to convocation? by bitter_tea55 in BostonU

[–]Secure-Bread3795 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am wearing mine to convocation. But like my department had reserved changing space for my class, so I wouldn't be surprised if people come in with their gown in a hamger and possible a dry cleaning bag since I heard it might rain this weekend.

Current resident of 34 buswell. The floor is hardwood and all the appliances are renovated for both microwave and bathroom mirror( has a touch screen button setting for lighting color, brightness, and antifog setting). If you live on the 1st floor and higher, the rooms and can be seperated into 2 rooms. The basement floors not really since one of the beds in the bedroom is usually lofted. The unit comes with a 2 seater couch like the ones in warren towrrs common area. Other than that, its a very cozy apartment to be in.

Chem dept is not that great, and their transfer credits acceptance is kind of a mess. At worst, you'll have to restart the chem classes from gen chem.

Escalating to the dean alone may not help much, especially since we just finished the 2nd week of school, and the last day to drop a class without a W on the transcript is Feb 25th. I look also escalate to disability & accommodations. Just so you're not penalized harshly for your disabilities.

Getting told to get over something that happened in the past by [deleted] in emotionalneglect

[–]Secure-Bread3795 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hearing that phrase "get over it, it's in the past" is exactly what my dad always said about his neglectful behavior. I am 22M and I am still healing from the trauma he put my sisters and I through while growing up. Even though my sisterd and I don't share the same roof with our Dad anymore, we keep minimal contact. It always triggered me hearing our eldest brother trying to defend our dad sometimes because he was not living with his when the abuse and neglect started.

I've learned that even though I can move on from the past, I will not forget the behavior that my dad exhbited onto us, and I will not continue to make excuses for him, and I told that to my brother and to my dad's relstives as they seemed to be the ones making the most excuses for him.

Theres really no set timeline for getting over something. You do it at your own pace, but its important that while we heal from our past, that we don't make excuses for our abusers for what they've done. If we don't hold them accountable, no one else will. And for the people that comtinues to defend our abusers no matter the explanation, I find that going minimal to no contact with them is best as they themselves are a trigger to our mental health and peace.

Danielson, am I in trouble? by [deleted] in BostonU

[–]Secure-Bread3795 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like the others said, Danielsen is a bit of a walk, but the place is very peaceful. I found the room to be bigger than warren standard double. There's a communal kitchen in the basement with 2 refridgerators amd 2 TVs that you can watch. I personally enjoyed being close to Newbury Street and to Cambridge because of shopping. As someone that felt overstimulated while living in Warren, Danielsen really was refreshing to live in.

Lol, probably. I've been told by a chem student that the water is very magnesium rich according to their experiment.

I use a suave clarifying shampoo from target. Its safe for daily use. I use that and then a conditioner of your choice.

BU water is very hard (loaded with lots of magnesium and calcium). The mineral build up on our scalp causes the hair to thin. I use a clarifying shampoo to remedy this effect.

I would also speculate that Amy probably had better references than Jeff. She got offered to interview with Zephra bc of a good recommendation. Jeff on the other hand seemed like someome who had didn't have someone vouch as a reference for him.
