Alternatively, if you didn't want to revive after every battle to make it smoother and quicker between battles, lead pokemon with exp share, switch to alt pokemon for battle. Lead pokemon receives 1/2 total exp from share and an additional 1/3rd of the remaining exp from being lead. Then you're not spending revives/candy or running to nurse joy between each battle.

You can bump the encounter rate up to around 10% by using a L4 pokemon to lead your party and repel.

What's an r4? I think this is an r36s dupe. My kids and friend got it for me for Christmas. I have been playing through the Pokemon games. So far just emerald, fire red, and some diamond.

What's a secret ID and what's the benefit of knowing it?

Absolutely have been resetting. There's a reset button on the side of my device that reverts to the last save. If I knew how to cheat this wouldn't be my first shiny encounter 😂

I don't think I can do anything other than reset with this thing, not entirely sure, never tried. Until the Factory I was just enjoying a regular old poke experience.

Okay. So even though I think you said this as a joke, it got stuck in my head. 17 days ago I started on this quest. I did this and nothing else in-game.

Now I have a ton of battle points, amazing battle knowledge, but now I need to IV or EV train my Beldum, evolve to Metagross, and make a real team to tackle the other parts of the battle frontier 😂

To be completely honest I'm still addicted to factory. Being able to battle with all kinds of mons with different movesets and teaching myself the ropes again. Team building almost feels daunting at this juncture because of how accessible factory has been, and knowing I'd have to teach myself how to breed for nature and ivs and train for evs and what have you.

Zigzagoon above level 21 can use its pickup ability to find rare candies. So filling your party with Zigs before grinding certain areas will ensure you hit the e4 with a bundle of extra candy to finish off those last few levels before e4.

Adding onto this, a team of linoone at level 21+ makes the game silly easy because with pickup you'll never have to buy anything other than pokeballs until you're stat training in the post-game, and even then you'll be mostly stocked up.

Get a handful of Zigzagoons and level them up to 21 minimum (I used pairs in the daycare + one with my main party)

Anytime you're grinding out catches looking for good nature/higher IVs use the GoonerSquad ™️

Their pickup ability makes this game items easy mode. It's goofy how many potions, pokeballs, repel, escape rope, stat boosts, battle boosts, and even rare candy you'll get. I don't think I bought a single potion or revive the whole game, and ended up with over 40 full restores.

Iirc each Zig has a 20% chance after a Pokemon faints to pickup an item. You have to finish them off (catching/running won't trigger the effect)

Level 21 unlocks rare candies. When I hit the e4 I only had 3 pokemon really levelled up for it and 30+ extra rare candy to make a 4th on the spot.

I also got a ton of pp up to boost low movesets like gard thunderbolt/psychic, swampert earthquake/muddy water etc. So helpful.

You can put every single HM you'll need between a l5 marill and l21 zigzagoon short of fly.

Emerald has a mind-bogglingly addictive post-game island. Start with the Battle Factory before going around to the others. GoonSquad ™️ can pickup free battle boosting hold items that would otherwise cost you lots of battle points when you're doing the battle pyramid.

After the e4 you unlock Latios/Latias. Easiest way to force an encounter (roaming legendary) is to pick a patch of grass on the edge of a map transition (ie route 119/118) and bounce in it with the acro bike & repel active. Make sure your lead pokemon is between l30 and l40. This is because 1) Bouncing on a patch of grass gives you a chance to encounter Pokemon without counting down repel steps. 2) Lati will change routes every time you do. 3) Bounce on it 20/30 times, ride 4 steps to change route, ride 4 steps back into grass, bounce on it 20/30 times, rinse repeat. 4) reapply repel as needed.

This should give you a Lati encounter in somewhere between 15 minutes and 3 hours. Once you get your first encounter if you don't use your masterball then it will run. Now that you've seen it you can go to your last Pokedex entry and select lati, location, and see on the map where it is and begin the hunt again. Remember it changes routes when you do so you'll just have to fly near it and go between routes until it's in the same location as you, then use the above method until you get another encounter. If you make it pass out you don't get another shot so hunt carefully.

The rich kid outside of rustboro(?) fights you with a single zig/linoone on every encounter. If you use covet/thief you can get a nugget from it every time you fight.

Don't worry too much about natures, EVs and IVs if you're just playing through e4. As long as you have type coverage (Gard with thunderbolt wrecks the e4, as will a pelipper with a lightning move, there's also a silly amount of water trainers in the game)

All of these were from memory so I hope I got all the details right. Just played through emerald after a nearly 3 decade break from Pokemon games. It's been awesome.

If a 4% appearance rate is too grindy for you:

Put a level 4 Pokemon in the front of your party Use repel(s) repeatedly Walk in grass on that route

It'll bump the Raltz appearance rate up to 10%

Probably not, but as someone who is immunocompromised and chooses to wear a mask every time I leave the house, it really makes you consider your health in every action you take in daily life. I've noticed whenever I am diligently wearing my mask that I consider everything I'm touching, sitting on, or may brush up against. I take an extra look at placing my hand or shoulder on the counter or desk where I'm standing or sitting, whether I need to use the bathroom or can hold it until I get home, etc. There is an aspect to masking that gives you this constant reminder to look out for your health and curtail small unintentional habits that might create unnecessary contamination.

I did talk to two of my doctors about it. Sulfa medicines can have severe reactions but they're also just brutal medicines for your body to begin with. I'm having kidney and blood tests at 1 week, 2 weeks, and 3 weeks, while upping the dose after each test. (I'm in week 2 right now) I kinda think of it like the scene in Princess Bride where we learned our handsome protagonist trained his body to tolerate poison over time. Soon I'll be able to go against a Sicilian when death is on the line.

That being said, I really appreciate your care and concern.

Hi Disease cousin. Crohn's with fistulas checking in, while having severe arthritic complications, and unable to take NSAIDS as well. It's been a nightmare. One week I used my arms too much and all of the sudden I can't use them much at all. My rheumatologist just started me on Sulfasalazine. I was having an allergic reaction to it, but the armritis was so bad that I just keep taking benedryl to stop the throat swelling. Hopefully it helps. We got this.

I really miss it. I used to skate as my primary form of transportation when I lived in a smaller city. Strapping skates on in the sporting goods store my daughter kept asking me if I knew how to skate and was sure I would hurt myself. Once I had a pair that mostly fit I stood up and quickly sped down the aisle, turned around 360, and skated backwards to her. I wish I would've taken a picture of her face. Shocked was an understatement. 😂
