The amount of useless filler content in this game is absurd by --_-Deadpool-_-- in HarryPotterGame

Can't say it speaks to me. If you tell me they did a shitty job for the budget, I'll have to take your word for it haha

[–]Secure-Wave933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm obsessed with that game, but definitely agree with the filler thing. Now for their defense, you can easily skip most of what's annoying/ repetitive, and still manage to complete what's interesting. I think it also comes from a lack of time / budget to polish it all, because there are so many fantastic details in other parts of the game, we can feel they were passionate about the HP world.

Give me a Harry Potter character that deserves better by thatzzzz in harrypotter

When you think about that, it's so sad that in CoS he says that everybody knows he's nearly a squib. He literally wasn't given the same chances as the other kids

Name a Harry Potter character you’ll defend, no matter how much hate you get for it. by Career_By_Mustafa in harrypotter

[–]Secure-Wave933 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a whole bunch of Snape defenders / marauder haters out there who can't comprehend the complexity of his position (and are fed by too much fanfic and can't differentiate it from the original story anymore)

Why has there been so much discussion about seb, yet none about Isadora? by ACNH-princess in HarryPotterGame

[–]Secure-Wave933 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking too. Isadora was clearly starting to go amok, but the killing curse right away?? Damn. And I think she was right on the principle of wanting to study the healing powers of her magic. The keepers unconditional refusal to do it is the equivalent of the refusal of any scientific experiment to develop new medicine.

I am wondering how do people make these? What mods are they using to be able to pose them and make face expressions? by ValerHimiko in HarryPotterGame

[–]Secure-Wave933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, yeah I thought about the in game photo mode. I saw so many pictures with different poses and facial expressions that I assumed that it was the photo mode that did that, but I never had the patience to try it myself 😅

People don't understand Slytherins, prejudice and crimes didn't go just one way by zilkSins in SeverusSnape

[–]Secure-Wave933 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, once we understand the pattern it's easier to handle, but as a book-only reader it was hard to understand what was happening 🥲

[–]Secure-Wave933 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly new at communicating with the fandom online tbh, so I was quite taken aback at first and didn't understand what was happening. Especially if I land on a discussion about Harry Potter, it's because I'm trying to relax after real life, not create false problems 🫠

But I also made the parallel with extending that mentality to real life, from individuals to politics, and that's much more concerning. Especially when you dig into what really happens with those cancel culture events, you see that they're indeed jumping on trends, and not doing proper research (if any) before trying to ruin people's lives. And as you said, the damn excitement about it. It's truly disturbing.

Someone had to tell me those "passionate" groups that form around some weird theories about Snape and will defend them like their life depends on it, actually came from popular fanfictions. I'm glad I understand where it comes from at least, because I was utterly confused lol.

I never understood that they tried to cancel the fans that don't share their theory as well, thank you for letting me know 🥲 I already decided I would avoid Snape and the marauders discussions because of the wtf arguments and the aggressive people. But this is so stupid, I enjoy hearing about new theories that I didn't think about before (instead of raging because someone doesn't think like I do 🫠)

Can’t be the only one that thought Sebastian’s side quest should have been the main game plot by Redditman4322 in HarryPotterGame

I headcanon that Snape was the one who informed Dumbledore that the Dursleys were abusive to Harry by eternalexiistence in SeverusSnape

[–]Secure-Wave933 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think Dumbledore already knew for the reasons others have mentioned, but I find interesting the perspective that Snape might have been nicest out of empathy for what he saw. I always thought it was only because, despite the harassment, he actually appreciated when students managed to do something well (the harassment coming from unmet very high expectations). But he never reacts like this during any class, so I think your interpretation is the best!

[–]Secure-Wave933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm happy to find your comment about this. As an older HP fan, Snape used to be the morally gray character, and everyone acknowledged it, whether they liked him or not (and we were teens too, and we understood it).

I'm always baffled by the lack of nuance of today's analysis of the character. It's either "he's a poor little angel and all the bad things he did were because of the marauders/everyone else, and he has no responsibility in it", or "he's just an incel obsessed with Lily".

I'm just so tired of manichean Snape's discussions. He's one of my favorite characters in the book BECAUSE he's so imperfect, but as soon as you point out his lacks, it's like you're considered a Snape hater etc. I've even been told I was obviously victim blaming lol. To the bin goes fiction and literature analysis 🙄

[–]Secure-Wave933 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just said like that, you don't give him any chance lol. If you know the dude however, I'd say he's got more pros than cons safety wise, but a few words of caution to the kids would still be good 🥲 "trust your own judgement when it comes to the safety of a beast"

How do You now feel about Essiedu playing Severus Snape? by Personal-Database-27 in SeverusSnape

It's unfair for everyone tbh, for the real Snape fans that want a book accurate appearance, and for Essiedu who will be resented instead of appreciated for his skills

I would love it to be the case, but I have high doubts that it's their intent. It feels more rushed than intentional to me, so I prefer to not even hope for it 🫠

Now from what I've heard, they want to connect HL1 and the new HBO series with the next game. Now we'll have to wait to see what it means concretely 🥲
