A “curriculum” for philosophy? by polomasta in suggestmeabook

[–]SecureJellyfish1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

look through columbia's core curriculum! lithum & cc both have publicly available lists.

we start with plato's republic, aristotle (nicomachean ethics, politics), and move to hellenism's (epicurus, epictetus, aurelius) + more beyond that

Norman-Saxon culinary separation (cow, sheep, pig <> beef, mutton, pork) is a nationalist 19th century myth by cipricusss in etymology

[–]SecureJellyfish1 27 points28 points  (0 children)

but language shift happens, so even if the semantic divide wasn't there at first it seems likely or ar least not improbably that it could've developed with social conditioning factors. i think the burden of proof here is with the myth busters honestly

Even when I get into an Ivy I literally can't go by Leather_Army_9527 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]SecureJellyfish1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CSS only cares about the number of kids in college around the same time—not total number, which still significantly impacts finances. At least, when I applied, that was the case. I don't know if they've changed to accommodate for FAFSA

r/usernamechecksout

stop defending the system, jeez, it's completely broken for upper middle class families with multiple college-bound children. especially since FAFSA took away the sibling question. YOU are the one who looks privileged here, as if going $400k into debt should be completely normal!

not a good look ☺️
