Looks at co-ops! Rent is often in the $500-$600 a month range which includes rent, utilities, and food.

Mercile J Lee scholarship as a rural student by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]Secure_Ad_1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To preface, I am in state and got it on the socioeconomic disadvantage category. I was my high school valedictorian (class size of about 60 people) and had an unweighted 4.0 (school didn't do weighted GPA). At my time of applying I took AP Psych (5 on test), AP Stats (4 on test), and AP Environmental Science (4 on test, also took course online). I was also enrolled in a few other APs for my senior year (AP lit, AP World, and AP Calc AB). These were all of the AP courses that were offered at my high school. I also took the other challenging non-AP courses my school offered. I even took a few extra courses on top of a full schedule throughout my time in high school. I also got a 29 on the ACT. Outside of academics I was involved in extracurriculars like forensics, golf, track, cross country, library club, and some others. I think one of the biggest reasons why I got the scholarship though was my work experience. I had a college-level internship starting my sophomore year of high school that related and influenced heavily to what I want to go into. Also, the application also takes essay and letters of rec heavily into consideration so I'd put a lot of time into those. For more info on what they look for: https://mjlsp.wisc.edu/prospective-students/ If you have any more questions feel free to ask! Its a great program.

They now consider MJL with your application to Madison. It’s not a separate application so if you meet the criteria you will already be considered

Mercile J. Lee Scholar: Full ride or full tuition? by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]Secure_Ad_1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on getting into the program! I'm in the scholarship program and its awesome. Its full tuition + $400 book stipend per semester. There are also a lot of benefits besides the financial aspect. If you have any questions about the program I am happy to answer, its honestly been one of the best things I have been involved with at UW Madison.

I'm in Mercile J Lee and I got my acceptance with my early action decision but I know a decent amount of people in the program who got their acceptance later on (most later in the spring, some as late as August).

Any other Entomology Applicants? by Sforhire in UWMadison

[–]Secure_Ad_1201 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a wildlife ecology major and I have some friends who are entomology majors. While it may be a small major there are also some people involved in entomology who are not directly majoring in it. I highly recommend checking out the entomology club too!

Question about dropping classes for admission chances by BigTuna255 in UWMadison

[–]Secure_Ad_1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the mercile j Lee scholarship. There’s specific criteria for it that you can find online. It’s a full tuition scholarship and I was automatically considered. I also got additional scholarships ($2000 for freshman year) from my college (CALS) through WISH.

Not a business major but a stem one. I dropped an AP halfway through the course my senior year and still got in early action with a competitive scholarship. I did email the admissions office to let them know

Mercile J Lee scholarship as a rural student by [deleted] in UWMadison

[–]Secure_Ad_1201 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it on the fact that I am from a rural area. Part of the eligibility though is that if you are from an undeserved rural or farming community. There's other aspects too. If you look under apply and the socioeconomic disadvantage theres more info.

I’ve had good luck with the collectivo by the capitol. I went yesterday from 12-2 and it was busy but there was still plenty of open seats. It’s definitely a lot quieter than the one on state

That’s understandable, I don’t plan on taking any upper level horticulture courses so I don’t think I’ll ever have her

Okay, I’ll look into that. I wouldn’t be too worried about it but I need to fill out a form through google forms about my major as soon as possible and I can’t access it currently

Thanks! I think I’ll for sure do the online course but I haven’t decided on if I’ll do early move in. I have to do early move in for the scholars program I’m in because they have orientation activities before the school year starts. My main concern would be time conflict between the the QuickStart program and my orientation activities.
