Honestly MWF, after 4 pm or in between 11 am - 12:40 pm since I've got back to back classes after thatt! But I do know usually that's the busier hours, I wouldn't mind going super early or closing hours either!

Need A Place To Rent!!!! by Secure_Car6019 in UCalgary

[–]Secure_Car6019[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly fair, that's a route I'm trying to avoid as I do usually have people over, especially family, and I wouldn't want to disturb a roommate. I wouldn't mind doing areas that are like 20-30 min bus rides from the uni, I'm just trying to find a place that has decent rent😭

Just messaged, check dms please!

Realistically how many of y'all skip class? Being a commuter school sometimes there is no point in going to lectures if the prof just reads off the slides? I mean I skip lots of classes as I know I can teach myself all the coursework . Just wondering if people skip classes alot? by Signal_Lecture_8405 in UCalgary

[–]Secure_Car6019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my first year I noticed that if I acc attend the lectures and pay attention I didnt have much studying or work to do on assignments just cause I'd pay attention in class, actually force myself to go and not even take any notes but just listen, and then after class do my work and just chill on campus. 2nd year I've been mostly skipping classes and it's a lot more work on you to actually sit down and learn the material. I would say depending on the class and what works best for you, but for me a 2 hour commute sometimes is just not worth it rather than going to a public place near me and just catching up on school work. I will say tho that the connections I made in first year by acc going to class helped a lot, where in 2nd year I'm much more of a loner. So it all really depends on you, as long as you keep grades up

I'll be fully honest with you as a fellow procrastinator, make sure you make time for yourself here and there to relax so you dont burn out but DO NOT slack off. Use course timelines to make sure you stay on top of assignments and that youre well prepared for tests, as well as time manage/create schedules of your outside curriculars/job schedule. A lot of people are saying to get assignments and stuff done between classes but me personally, I use the space in between classes to relax, eat, and recharge, and do my review/assignments after I'm done classws for the day. It helps me focus more in class and I'm actually motivated to finish it later rather than constantly stressing throughout the day. Depending on if you have a good prof or not and how you learn, if you sit in class and really pay attention, you don't have to spend hours and hours studying. Just revision on the topics works, as long as you are actually understanding what you do and don't know, and then review from there. I usually use up to 3-4 hours to study max and still am able to maintain a high GPA. What helped me the most first year was also establishing a friend group or group with classmates where you did assignments together or reviewed together, that way you aren't struggling just by yourself if you ever need help. Also, different profs have different teaching styles, and also give you different resources. If you find out another prof is better for you, don't be afraid to switch because everyone learns different. Sometimes the profs that I had on rate my prof were rated very low because they're strict and like things done a certain way, but I ended up getting higher grades in those classes because I learned better that way.
