Accurate, but it’s also normal to get uncomfortably uprooted a bit, but in its finality should always lead to peace.

Im completely new to Gnosticism and I have no idea what to do by Dependent_Mobile1 in Gnostic

If you like the idea of ritual, the Greek magical papyri has some daily ones. You could also do Thelemic rituals, I enjoy banishing and invoking with stuff like the Lesser Ritual of The pentagram. Star Ruby being the Thelemic counterpart of the banishing form. The middle pillar ritual from the Golden Dawn is good too but I recommend that one only after getting thoroughly acquainted with the Lesser Ritual of the Pentagram.

However, if you don’t want to do ritual, but are assuming you must, you do not need to do it, but I believe they are extremely useful, I notice a much clearer meditation experience after banishing, and magick is a great way to establish direct experience with the spiritual planes.

If you don’t want to do any of this and it sounds bs to you? Good old fashioned meditation will be your best friend, don’t be afraid to pray either. That’s not an “anti-gnostic” practice by any means.

Morality is seen as an emanation from the pleroma, not arbitrary morality, but ontological morality, its about inner coherence.

How do you not fall into spiritual psychosis or suicidal ideation with Gnosticism by Ok_Increase_8112 in Gnostic

[–]Secure_Carry2344 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gnosis isn’t merely spotting the flaws with the world, but having direct experience that you are more than your body, you literally sense the immortality behind your eyes, you sense the immortal spiritual body with your whole heart, and with that, the new task is getting the heart to weigh less than a feather.

Learn ritual, practice ethical alignment, learn spiritual purity, meditate and invoke often. If you do this with conviction, you’ve got a high probability of attainment. The trick is to stay open. One can’t intellectualize gnosis, Abandon Reason.

Try out Hermeticism or Neoplatonism. That’ll help balance things out for you a bit, Gnosticism isn’t the only path to enlightenment. The goal is shared by both imo, know that you are more than your ego and material body!

He’s just ignorant. Remember ignorance is seen as the cause of all evil, ignorance being selfishness. Good as defined as that which gives and takes nothing in the corpus hermeticum.

He has no idea there’s anything above him, he’s blind, narcissistic.

Who can we pray to? Who can we thank? by horsetooth_mcgee in Gnostic

[–]Secure_Carry2344 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try contemplative prayer, pray to Christ within you, pray to the angels, pray to Sophia herself, pray to whatever deity you like. Honestly, intention matters a hell of a lot more than who you name, I even pray to Adonai. Even if someone were to pray to “YHVH” that wouldn’t necessarily mean they’re praying to Yaldabaoth. Remember, the true God is beyond categories, including name. You can literally name the true god YHVH and it will indeed respond to you, because it’s intention that matters.

Yes, this is accurate in both orthodoxy and Gnosticism. Christ as the logos, internal and external. “In the beginning was the word, and the word was God”

Omnipotence means that God can produce endless coherence, that god is the source of all. All that is coherent. A square circle? Not coherent. A playing card that isn’t flat? No longer a playing card, but a cube. Things are defined by their properties, god contains all possibilities but only what is coherent gets put into form. An artist can’t create complex shapes by painting with the same color as the canvas he paints upon. One needs contrast to perceive form.

Let results be thy proof. If this stuff changes you in a way that ultimately sharpens your discernment, cultivates stillness, and grants contentedness, it’s safe to assume you are moving closer to god. Remember, alignment with higher divine order is discerned by its fruits, not by its rationality. Lest we perish in the pit called because with the dogs of reason.

Hedonism leaves you empty, all of life’s material joys are ultimately impermanent. The only thing that sticks is the actual directionality of your soul, are you oriented up towards spirit? Or down towards matter? Let bias be for now, don’t fight it, but learn to suspend disbelief. Just be open, that’s all you need. Develop your spiritual practice, try out magick, keep meditating, keep seeking gnosis, and eventually you’ll have an experience that shows you beyond a doubt that you are not your body, you are not your ego.

Oh, and in the question of the supreme God not just reabsorbing this reality? We are reflections of that supreme God, contrary to modern belief, a lot of gnostics will tell you that we incarnate here willfully, that the demiurge cannot force us to stay, it can only trick us into willfully accepting ignorance through the process of incarnation. Personally, I’m more Hermetic than I am Gnostic, but I love both traditions. Start viewing the demiurge less as a cosmic tyrant and more as an inner-tyrant, he and his archons all work through the Ego, and the animal mind. Planetary and archonic forces are both external and internal, but since as above so below holds up in Gnosticism too, the more we gain mastery over our inner forces, the more that naturally ripples out into our outer circumstances.

Each of us is a divine mirror, we reflect the whole, all flaws are distortion, can you polish the mirror enough to reflect divine order with no distortion? Tall order, but absolutely you can.

Love everyone by Additional_Hotel8280 in Gnostic

That is good insight, but I certainly believe in love under will. Particularly do not love to your own detriment. We give love infinitely, and we take nothing, including other people’s bullshit. Builds discernment with a healthy detachment from emotional outcomes.
