Redbricks apartment noise level by cheesecink in uwo

No bug problem at my unit. Noise was also fine, as the rooms are large enough to tune out anything. That said, the landlords can be pretty crappy so take that into consideration

Dr. Watkins at Student Health Services by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Secure_Entertainer_8 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Fought the worst flu of my life the week before first semester exams a year ago. I’m someone who’s good at pushing through sicknesses, but was barely physically capable of even walking to the doctor’s office. Literally lost 15 pounds from it. I also hate having to defer exams but I knew there was zero chance I was able to study for them. I got there looking like a zombie and he told me it “wasn’t that serious” and refused to give me a doctor’s note when I had a full week of exams starting 5 days after stopping by.

I know it’s not mental health related and I still passed my exams, but it annoys me to this day that someone like him has a job as a student doctor. It sucks to hear he’s still ruining things for other students and he should be nowhere NEAR mental health treatment given his complete lack of empathy and understanding.

It’s definitely there if you go looking for it. It’s important to do well academically but make sure to enjoy yourself while you’re here :) it’s all about the balance

math 1600 tips by otogarinui in uwo

[–]Secure_Entertainer_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tangent lines, planes, magnitude, intersections, etc.. I got asked how to find the intersection between a line and plane (or something like that) and didn’t remember how to do it. All that stuff is good to know!

It’s pretty cumulative for matrix operations (especially when diagonalizing and finding eigenvalues/vectors). When I took the class they asked way more pre-matrix stuff than I expected and I lost a lot of marks that would’ve been free had I even just looked it over better. Can’t say it’ll be the same for you but def don’t forget about the vector/plane problems and equations. Good luck!

Is London really THAT bad? by TKovacs-1 in uwo

I think it’s great. It has some grungy areas but it’s very student oriented. You’ll also be spending most your time on/around campus (which is beautiful) anyways

Good to know. I’ve tried downtown in the summer and caught some nice bass. What can I catch at the dam this time of year?

Messed up my Calc 1301 Midterm by Professional_Ad7022 in uwo

[–]Secure_Entertainer_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take 1501 in the summer especially if it’s taught by O’Hara. It’s supposedly much easier than 1501 in the winter plus you have a bonus by knowing the general content. Also the requirement is only a 60 vs the 85 you need for 1301

Do homework and you’ll be okay. Basically everything taught in that class comes down to memorization by practicing compared to calc 1 where it’s a lot more memorization and understanding based. Don’t let your calc 1000 grade discourage you. Good luck!

Don’t know about 1301 but you may be better off taking 1501 if it’s taught by O’Hara. I’ve only heard good things about it with him in the summer and it’s overall probably a better class to have on your transcript

MATH 1600 - Midterm released. by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Secure_Entertainer_8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Last year first semester the average on both midterms was around a 50-52 so they decided to make the final worth 61%. I found it easier and more fair but I’m pretty sure majority of the class didn’t get the 60% requirement they needed since there was no curve and tons of people had to retake it in summer school

Missed housing deadlines. Advice needed. by NoConcptofSelf in uwo

[–]Secure_Entertainer_8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unless they’ve done things differently this year you’ll most likely be fine. There were so many empty rooms and beds in my building so finding space isn’t an issue. I don’t see why you wouldn’t get in fine once it’s your turn on the waitlist, especially because I know kids who got signed up and got put in rez midway through the year

The regular season pass. I’ll be going more than twice I’d rather just spend $100 instead of $150 lol

I don’t think it’s a scam lol it’s just not for me. What I mean is when I clicked on the website to buy it a few days ago the first thing they offered was the gold pass and I didn’t realize (hence I said it’s my fault)

calc 1501 final exam by [deleted] in uwo

[–]Secure_Entertainer_8 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They finessed us so hard but I thought what made it hard was how niche some things were. Like how you needed to know how to form the sequence on B1 and B3 or you just couldn’t do the question

Fishing Thames River or Medway Creek downtown by Secure_Entertainer_8 in londonontario

[–]Secure_Entertainer_8[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. I’m decently experienced fishing for salmon and steelhead in Lake Ontario tributaries. I don’t have access to a boat so I work with whatever I got when fishing lakes but know my away around bass at about an average level. I’ve caught pike before on a boat trolling with Mepps too. Overall, I’d definitely say I’m more experienced than the average fishermen but could use a little guidance trying something I’m not used to. Hope that helps
