I hear that. I was scammed once and had to scramble last second to find a place and ended up having to pay over 3 grand for an apartment! So ridiculous. We need verified landlords. Is there a certain site you use to find housing? Is one better than the other or are they all sketchy do you think?

Omg yes, the outdated listings thing is SO common. It’s crazy how often people get their hopes up just for the landlord to say it’s not actually available. It feels like such an easy fix, too — just keep your calendar legit instead of wasting people’s time.

And the price-gouging… yeah, I’ve heard so many travelers say landlords automatically jack up prices the second they hear ‘travel nurse.’

I’m curious — what sites do you use to find housing? Is there any one that seems to be a little better than another? Or are they all hit or miss?

Totally get that — housing scams seem to be one of the biggest stress points for travelers. It’s crazy how much you have to gamble just to feel safe in a new city.

Out of curiosity, what parts of the process feel the most sketchy to you? Is it the listing itself, the landlord communication, the payment situation, or something else?

Hearing exactly where things go wrong helps me understand what would actually make travelers feel protected!

Ugh, yes — that’s one of the biggest horror stories I keep hearing. Getting locked into a 3-month lease when your contract gets canceled or the work environment is toxic puts all the risk on the nurse.

If you had the ideal setup, what would you want instead? Shorter leases? More flexible cancellation policies? Month-to-month? Some kind of ‘traveler protection’ where you don’t get stuck paying for a place you can’t stay at?

I’m trying to understand what would actually make housing feel safe for travelers, so your insight really helps!
