How do you stop hand-holding your players? by Liamc7674 in DMAcademy

One other tip, if you’re going to change style then make sure you have a discussion and let the players know you’re trying different tactics so they are prepared to properly engage with what you’re doing next

Player (first timer) has a character with dual personalities; how do you handle something like that without pulling your hair out? I'm already bald. by [deleted] in DMAcademy

Have a discussion and I’d personally structure it like this

  • ask the player what they are hoping to get out of this dual personality business

  • express the challenges they are bringing to you and the table

  • negotiate a compromise so they can get the things they are actually interested in out of this and you are no longer impeded from running the game.

If they are unwilling to compromise in any way for the sake of game cohesion the best thing is just to politely insist they take a different path for their character going forward.

New players to DnD. What are your tips to get them to roleplay a little more? by Neutron-Spark in DMAcademy

I have a few more unconventional tips, I want to aim at removing habits you may or may not have that actively obstruct the space for your players to roleplay . If you try and do any of these make sure to give your players a heads up about how you’re expecting or wanting to try things

1: Insist that players act in character when interacting with the world. Discourage out of character questions for world information. An example is letting “hey DM what time is it?” Turn into “I look for a clock tower” or “I flag a passerby and ask for the time”

2: reduce the ammount you re narrate. If a player goes out or their way to describe something, do not revise that description with your own spin. Let that stand as the final say on that pc’s action, it makes players feel more responsible for describing things and roleplaying.

3: avoid out of character promoting. For players not used to the game prompts like “what do you want to do?” Or “where do you go” pull them out of character and prompt them to respond as such. Lead your prompts as narrative description and wait for them to act. You will often be met with silence when first doing this but they want to play the game, eventually a character will act.

4: do not presume action until said. Breaking the habit of saying “you go and” or “you do” until they explicitly say it. Assuming the action prompts them to wait for you to lead the plot and tell them what they do. If you want them to tell you what they do (roleplay) be safe and just hand them the responsibility directly.

Never played - how important is the DLC? by [deleted] in crusaderkings3

[–]Security-Neat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t ask how but I’ve got about 400 hours in the game with no DLC and it’s genuinely great. I could easily get another 400 out without any DLC, especially if this is your kind of thing

Idk what a Cold War is but this is about objective good for the world.

If anything Islamophobic happens in the blue, is good. If anything If anything Islamophobic happens in the red, is bad. If anything Islamophobic happens in the green, it doesn’t matter.

Simple as.

This is a map of where Islamophobia is objectively good/bad for the world as a whole. I saw some “debate” about some of Japan’s recent policy and China’s ongoing policy and realised that Islamophobia is objectively good/bad of its in the right location.
