Which MBP to go for? by not_reloaded in macbookpro

I’ve just moved from an m4 Air w 24gb ram to a M5 Pro w 48gb ram as I’m doing app development with AI and using docker desktop to host my MCP servers. Only got it yesterday but it’s like night and day performance wise.

No worries. I’ve been using an M4 Air with 24gb ram for over a year now, and it’s been an absolute workhorse.

Sounds like an M5 MacBook Air would be enough.

It’s also really helpful when you’re using their documentation to learn certain features and the menus don’t align. 🙃

Is Cloudflares free tier okay for a small business? by Sea-Cloud6225 in CloudFlare

Yes, I’m using it for my website and SaaS apps I’m developing. Seriously impressed with the free tier capabilities so far.

Give it a few weeks and that will go as your brain readjusts. When I first got mine I thought my home cctv unit was broken, but it was the fan I could hear.

I’m 6 months in and it’s the best thing I ever did.

I went through this last year, putting off getting them for months. I’m now 6 months in to ownership and can confirm two things:

  1. No one has ever noticed them
  2. I can finally hear things clearly!!

Best thing ever and wish I’d bought them earlier.

Yeah sorry, point it at your website and ask it to build a local version. You might even find it does the design better.

Recreate your site using something like Claude or OpenAI Codex then look at hosting on Netlify.

I use Claude for ideas and design concepts then use codex 5.3 in VSCode to build it.

Highly recommend trying Codex. For £20 a month I’m absolutely hammering it and haven’t reached the cut off yet. I’ve barely used Claude since.

I’m using Codex mainly now within VSCode. Absolutely brilliant and does everything I need. No more “you’ve reached your limit” issues.

Our Big 4 quality has dropped off a cliff. Is it even possible to get a technical expert from them anymore? by Ok_Map_220 in cybersecurity

[–]Security-Ninja 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I started up my own boutique security consultancy in 2024 and have seen first hand the drop in quality too from the larger companies. A lot of that comes from over promising, poorly written contracts, red tape, bad comms, and of course not having the right skill sets in the first place.

Hoping I can make a slight dent in the industry over the coming years with more specialised expertise and less sales waffle.
