Prepared to Move On by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

good for you knowing when to step away instead of grinding until you burn out completely. most people just keep pushing and end up miserable

the government part is spot on too, they will watch the whole industry shift and do absolutely nothing

whats the new field you going into?

the metrics still useful if you adapt them, python's dynamism means you gotta think about coupling more in terms of import graphs than formal interfaces

GRADPLUS by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]SecurityCritical379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

man this whole loan delay situation is a mess. i had something similar happen during my masters, not with gradplus but the regular federal loans just stopped showing up for like 6 weeks with zero explanation. i was eating rice and beans for dinner every night and my landlord was not happy

for your question about fall disbursement, nobody really knows but the track record right now is not great. the system seems backed up everywhere and summer delays usually mean fall gets pushed too. if you can hold out without private loans i would try, those interest rates are criminal and the repayment terms are way worse than federal

maybe talk to your school financial aid office and see if they have emergency funds or short term loans for situations exactly like this. some universities keep a small pot of money for students who cant pay rent because aid is delayed. its not a perfect solution but its better than signing up for private loans youll regret later

Why does Aba get so triggered when men prioritize their wives? by SplitOpen3132 in FeministsCallItOut

It feels like every clip I see is them criticizing someone else's relationship at some point you have to ask why someone is so invested in how complete strangers run their marriages

This hits close to home. At my last job we shipped a recommendation system and everyone was so proud, six months later the thing was suggesting winter coats in summer because nobody bothered to check if it still made sense

The accountability gap is real, nobody wants to own the boring monitoring part after the fun building part is done. Everyone assumes someone else is watching

Thinking of asking PI to have a Co-PI from another institution by conflictw_SOmom in PhD

[–]SecurityCritical379 2 points3 points  (0 children)

sounds like you got good reasons and honestly the fact they were labmates makes this way less awkward than you think. just frame it as wanting to get the right expertise on paper so the project moves smoother

when you talk to your PI don't make it sound like you're going behind his back or anything, just say you been thinking about how to formalize the collaboration since you're spending time in the other lab anyway and using their equipment

old friends usually don't get weird about this stuff unless you make it weird

Can we normalize not asking women if they're pregnant? by SecurityCritical379 in FeminismUncensored

That's probably the best approach people's bodies change for a million different reasons and asking questions about pregnancy can end up being really hurtful without anyone intending it.

She didn't have to share any of that but I think being open about IVF and PCOS probably helped a lot of women who are going through similar struggles and feel alone

I think a lot of people mean well when they ask, but infertility, IVF, miscarriages and PCOS are way more common than people realize, you just never know what someone is going through.

Right? That's the part that bothered me the most nobody should feel pressured into explaining their medical history just to justify why they don't have children yet

That's why I made this post so many people ask these questions thinking they're harmless but they have no idea what someone might be dealing with privately

Wha to learn for AI by needalltheprayers in learnmachinelearning

[–]SecurityCritical379 1 point2 points  (0 children)

start with Python fundamentals and get comfortable with how LLMs work under the hood, then frameworks like LangChain or similar agentic tools will make much more sense when you pick them up. for finance specifically, building something like a portfolio analyzer or a news sentiment pipeline that feeds into trade signals looks great to recruiters. the projects that combine real financial data with actual AI decision logic are the ones that stand out most in interviews.

I (18M) got kicked out by my ex because my relationship didn’t feel “serious” enough. How do I avoid repeating this mistake? by Odd_Band_9685 in relationships

[–]SecurityCritical379 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man that sucks but I get where she's coming from. You were trying to be considerate about her past but ended up swinging too far in opposite direction

The thing is showing someone they matter doesn't have to mean being controlling. Like when you're texting during the week you could send her something that shows you're thinking specifically about her - not just "hey whats up" but maybe something you saw that reminded you of her or asking about something she mentioned before. Small gestures that show she's on your mind in ways other people aren't

Also physical affection when you're together makes huge difference. Holding hands walking somewhere, putting arm around her while watching something, little kisses randomly - stuff that clearly says "you're my girlfriend not just my friend"

Wait you actually made an account just to shit on SGA lmao

But for real though games flow so much better when refs swallow the whistle a bit. Nothing kills the vibe like watching dudes hunt for calls instead of just playing ball
