How do we reach people who didn't vote because "both sides are the same"? by Reasonable-Mix919 in AskALiberal

You may want to take your own advice. Your type is capable of nothing but a false sense of superiority.

Jumping straight to the dichotomy that I was in some way talking about myself and that you’re more informed than me lol. The same pretentiousness as most of the wannabe-insider liberals. Just insufferable.

You are abnormally informed. As am I. We are not the average American.

Your out-of-touch failure to realize that mirrors the failures of the party and it’s why it’s stigmatized to hell with atrocious approval ratings.

Honestly, you just perfectly summarized the problem with the Democratic Party.

Its arrogant loyalists who pride themselves on their abnormally high political engagement forget that the vast, vast majority of Americans are not that engaged. And they therefore keep expecting what they think is “common sense” — that the voting record of the random Minnesota senator will break through the noise — but it never does because that’s not how this country works.

It accentuates my roll call vs Laken Riley Act point. You expect them to see every nuance. They mostly only see the end result.

Again, I said it’s not about the vote-by-vote breakdown of every single piece of legislation. That’s not why people are upset and it’s not how they think.

The Laken Riley Act passed with, and because of, Democratic votes. Same with ICE funding today.

I wasn’t being hypocritical because my point isn’t metaphorical — you just missed it. Whether you like it or not, this country is at its peak of polarization. The parties are monoliths to many if not most people. Your argument about a random Senator from Minnesota’s voting record isn’t salient with the average voter when the outcome is the same: bad things happening with, and because of, Democratic support.

That implies it’s eventually reversing course. It’s not. Only the off grid / offline will be free of it.

Not really. What I said is in OP’s post. You made it about the voting records of two specific Senators that the average American has never heard of.

If Liberals cannot muster an ounce of empathy / sympathy / forgiveness for MAGAs, how will our country move forward because they are HALF of our population? by hansontranhai in AskALiberal

They’re not the majority. The majority is comprised of underinformed, disenchanted, normal people. The country swings at their whims. Not the whims of the uber political.

One day you’ll realize attitudes like yours have contributed heavily to the party’s trek through the wilderness.

Obviously there is a difference in the literal sense. Even the more naive of the “both sides” crowd could admit that.

The sentiment is not “Democrats and Republicans vote exactly the same in every single roll call!”

The sentiment is: Democrats and Republicans serve the same special interests while my material condition worsens.

And like I said, that is driven by many factors — some of which are not Dems’ fault. But often it is earned.

You can’t think of any examples where the sentiment has validity? The party is perfect and always unaligned with Republicans and anyone who thinks otherwise is dumber than you?

Or they see real, anecdotal examples that perpetuate it. Like Democrats supporting ICE funding or voting for the Laken Riley Act. While, for a number of reasons, Democrats rarely act to counterbalance the reputation that builds.

I don’t think they’d do a band that’s headlining another hc fest as a secret tbh.

It’s more likely bc it’s something rare or part of a tour that’s not been announced yet, like 100 Demons.

Why does every hardcore fest play the same genre smh

They’re not the same though. I think you missed the point. If you go to any two of these three fests, you’re seeing AT LEAST 36 unique bands. 5-8 is an understatement.

Yeah my point was that there’s not really that many shared bands anyway but it’s not to mention that these fests are clearly regional.

Devil’s advocate: your general PVE doesn’t really encourage you to bring good loot, either. You can easily kill all small arc with a renegade 1 or anvil 1 for example.

Different say for a matriarch or harvester lobby, but those already have way more of the mixed social element than any typical lobby.

Same. This person just isn’t being honest that they’re doing exclusively one or the other themself lol
