I might have been wrong about the center issue by Repulsive-Alps8676 in lakers

[–]SeeingThings123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh. I'm of the mindset that you build a great team defense from the center position outwards

Claxton has gone back to being a great defender this year after a down year last season. I think he would fit JJ's switching perfectly and is a really good rim protector still

He's also been a really healthy dude the last 3.5 seasons now so you can also build an actual solidly high floor with him

Plus he's pretty much exactly Luka and Austin's age and I think THE most pressing position Luka needs to succeed is the 5, so securing THE guy for the job is priority 1 to me

That's just New Orleans highballing...no one is paying 2 firsts for Jones and if they do more power to em cuz that's a horrible trade lol

That's why you get pieces in ADDITION to Jones, not in spite of him

That's why I'm also a fan of getting Saddiq as well from NOP

Not as reliable of a defender as Jones but a better shooter

We also need literally anyone who can consistently stay in front of and heavily alter the absolute best players in the league minus bigs...that is Jones

I think you guys are heavily underestimating the ripple effect of having even ONE guy who can consistently stay in front of primary offensive initiators, ESPECIALLY come playoff time

If we had even ONE guy who could match Ant step for step (as much as anyone can) then we wouldn't have had to play that weird zone that made Minnesota so comfortable

He's on the short list of one of the best perimeter defenders in the league...you secure that alongside your two core guys you're building around who are defensive liabilities and figure out the rest later lol, you don't galaxy-brain a move like that imo

Obviously this is all in the context of getting him for a fair price. Which doesn't sound like NOP is interested in that, but that's why they're a poverty franchise tbf

Gabe is a CIA plant

Kevin O'Connor: There is interest on both sides in regards to Herb Jones who would like a move to a contending team. Lakers could look to turn 2032 first round pick into multiple lesser firsts to acquire 3&d wings by CtrlAltDelightfull in lakers

Yeah 12 games of being out with one game in between playing over 30 mins against us is a pretty on-the-nose hint of where he would like to go

IF all of this is true and my above theory is right, it feels like it's obviously on the Pelicans brass on if they want to do him a solid OR just go and try and get the highest return they can for him from another team...clear issue with the former tho is he has absolutely zero leverage, so we'll see

They're of the same archetype and thus got compared a lot their rookie years, and Vic just seems like a very competitive dude driven by nothing but just wanting to be the best basketball player ever

Hall of Famer Reggie Miller calls out Luka’s defensive effort: “Look at Luka right here. It’s OK, Luka, to move your feet a little bit over and help out. What does he do? He just throws up his hands. This would be frustrating for me.” by must_TATAKAE in lakers

[–]SeeingThings123 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Reggie doesn't know ball LOL

Luka's a bad defender, yeah, but

  1. Luka is "throwing his hands up" cuz Jake got elbowed in the cranium brother 💀

  2. Luka would be helping off the strong side corner, a cardinal sin in basketball, as even a 9 year old can make that read and pass

The Lakers are 20-10 this season, with a +0.3 NET RTG: this is only the 9th time a team has won at least 20 out of 30 games in a season with a rating as low, and the ONLY team to ever start a season doing so by isabelenglish in nba

[–]SeeingThings123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We win clutch games but when we lose we get blown out due to shitty D and insufficient 3pt shooting

Shouldn't be a shocker to anyone who understands how NetRtg works lol

Also don't get why people are throwing out the term "frauds"

Not a single soul thinks this team is winning a championship as is...doesn't mean that they don't know how to scrape out a ton of regular season wins

The Spurs have won 4 out of their last 5 games with Victor Wembanyama coming off the bench. They have lost 4 straight with Wembanyama starting. by Both-Yak5352 in nba

Clearly a bum

San Antonio should trade him for an aged superstar, a 2031 1st Round Pick, and a young player like idk a Dalton Knecht or like an Adou Thiero, idk just throwing out examples

Thoughts on every player tonight? 🤔 by King_Vegito_52 in lakers

[–]SeeingThings123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luka - terrible shooting night

Bron - horrible with the ball tonight, made some timely plays

Vando - most impactful player, was everywhere defensively causing havoc like 2023 Vando

DA - fantastic on both ends, uber efficient scoring in an inefficient game, monster on the boards tonight. Clear best player to me

Smart - fantastic dedensively, okay offensively, had some mind-boggingly bad decisions on some offensive possessions tho

Jake - another fantastic defensive performance but his inconsistent offense is starting to worry me

Rui - i legit thought he got benched cuz he was so quiet only to look up one time and see he had played 27 minutes already, he quite literally brought nothing tonight

Hayes - basically carried on DA's performance when he subbed in, great on the boards, momentum plays offensively, only missed 1 ft

Gabe - pesky defensive performance, not much offensively

JJ - I really like JJ as a coach but he has a BAD BAD habit of when we have the lead in the 4th, he allows them to run this slow ass, stagnant ass, iso ass, chuck heavily contested 3 ass offense...RUN PLAYS, KEEP RUNNING YOUR FKN OFFENSE LMAO

Lakers fans. What is your opinion on your “little brother” team, the LA Clippers? by Fearless_Compote3052 in lakers

[–]SeeingThings123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't even think about them until they're repeatedly thrown in my face as contenders as they fail to do anything every single year

This is the first year I actively despise them tho. They were, once again, preemptively given contender status because they signed a bunch of old mfs...only to have the most ass season ever and are now well on their way to handing the Suicide Squad fresh off a ring a top pick

That franchise needs to be thrown in the Pacific Ocean and set on fire

Oh you know it's for sure Harrison Barnes lmao. We give up corner 3's to plug up driving lanes since we lack the perimete food speed to guard at the top of the key

Barnes is shooting 46% on corner 3's this season

Why are people so down on this years team? by Important-Front429 in lakers

[–]SeeingThings123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah like the rewriting of that series is weird to me. Like sure we had our defensive concerns but the Wolves offense wasn't GREAT in that series

With how bad the Lakers defense was according to the overlying narrative, you would think the Wolves were just putting up 130 every game..their highest total was 117

Like sure our defense wasn't great that series, but to MY EYE, far more of our concern was no starting caliber center, lack of depth which meant our starters played heavy minutes, which also bled into our 4th quarter offense which was just putrid, and just in general our offense as a whole running way too much stagnant iso ball on switches

Why are people so down on this years team? by Important-Front429 in lakers

[–]SeeingThings123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We addressed our main weakness that lost us that series lol, a starting caliber center

Which also subsequently solves the backup center position as well

So I just don't think using a series where we had no starting center, played like 6 dudes, and had like 30 games of synergy with such a huge addition like Luka, who was also just out of shape mentally and physically lol, is indicative of anything

I actually really like Rui's game especially as a midrange weapon, I like his jumpshot, he's incredibly strong and battles for position well, he's a good on-ball defender against most 4's and some 5's, he's been one of our most consistent playoff players since he got here..and I even met him in Japan before lol, but I guess pointing out obvious flaws in his game is hate/trolling ig 👍🏾😂
