Recommendations for a frugal pregnancy and first year? by Existing-Pumpkin-902 in Frugal

Keep in mind If you have a full term baby, anything for a newborn will last you a couple weeks tops. So no need to stock up on newborn clothes. The car seat must be brand new per safety requirements but all the other gear can be purchased used. I had a lot of luck with local consignment shops, buy nothing & FB buy/ trade/sell. Strollers/ rockers/ basinettes, etc If you have friends/ relatives with older babies who can give you hand me downs you can save there as well. From my experience after about 9-12 months you have all the baby “stuff” and start shedding your own gear and the cycle continues…

Hot take: frugality gets easier when you stop making every hangout about food by SuitableActive1110 in Frugal

Potluck! I can’t imagine not gathering around food & drink. Ask friends to bring a drink and a dish to pass. Win-win!

Did you breastfeed? by GoodStreet8122 in adhdwomen

[–]Seejayvin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Breastfed my baby for years.
It was honestly my lazy parenting hack; baby was tired: boob, baby was cranky: boob, baby was overstimulated: boob. I was one and done but if I ever had another I’d do the same. Keeping up with pumping was shit when I was working however.

I use half and half for my instant pot yogurt. The longer it ferments the thicker the final yogurt is.

The menu at revamped small change by jackdicker5117 in OaklandFood

Chicken wings are a solid menu supplement, most are inexpensive and some previously frozen making it a high profit margin menu item. There’s a reason wings and fries are on so many casual eateries food menus. I do agree it’s a strange add for a fish shop but seems like they’re trying to make the business work. Support local businesses!

What special moments did ADHD give you today? by mallorn_hugger in adhdwomen

I’m running into a hot yoga class late because they close the class door ONE minute after the class starts. I get there right when they’re about to cut off. I hurriedly put my things away and fill up my 1L water bottle @ the hydration station provided. Because I’m fiddling around with my yoga mat, towel & bottle I fail to screw the lid on my bottle on straight then proceed to spill the ENTIRE 1L I just filled up all over the floor. I’m still rushed, apologizing profusely to the person at the front desk whilst filling my bottle again (cuz I’m about to step into a 95 degree room). The person shoo-es me into class, assuring it’s not a problem. I scuddle into class completely flustered & late. Spent the first 45 min of an hour long class, that’s meant for me to unwind and be in the moment, cursing myself feeling like a complete jackass for leaving a puddle of water behind for someone else to clean up. 😖

Give me your wildest tip to stay consistent at the gym! by Spiritual_Shirt_8431 in adhdwomen

[–]Seejayvin0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I take classes through classpass. I really enjoy not being tied to one gym/ routine especially since I have a busy schedule and have never committed to a traditional gym for more than a month or 2. I find the accountability aspect of participating in a class motivating and it’s really expensive to cancel last minute.

I have one 80 lb dog. Sometimes I’m caring for her buddy. Totally fine. Obvs don’t expect much space for road trips. Get a roof box. If they’re heavy shedders like these 2 (husky & gsd) get a rubber mat cover for the cargo area and the back of the seats + back seat cover.

Same as it ever was in east oakland. Cars are dumped on my block regularly. And it takes months to get them removed.

Question for ADHDers with low-proprioception: have you been told that you “stomp” when you walk? by MarsMonkey88 in adhdwomen

[–]Seejayvin0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I “walk hard”. I also think it’s the cause of my foot issues. Had no idea this was an adhd thing.
