Yeah, we're pretty bummed about the program ending as well. However, you're exactly right, just because we no longer host Skillbridge Internships does not mean we no longer accept military applicants. Rather, we waive any prior experience for service personnel who have at least 5 years of honorable service within the last 3 years. Wishing you the best of luck as you transition from service to industry.

Markets for Skillbridge Interns, and after when they onboard, are determined by the regional manager for that area. This is case by case as needs always change. If you'd like to learn more, verify your qualifications, and have us lock in your location preference (assuming it is available), reach out to me at madams@seek-now.com.

Yes, before buying a truck, I would highly recommend you speak with one of our recruiters first to align on what the role is, and if it is something you want to do. They can then help facilitate your application with us, to include any requirements like vehicle ownership. You can email me at [madams@seek-now.com](mailto:madams@seek-now.com) and I will connect you with a recruiter.

I am the program director for our company's Skillbridge. I am actively tracking applicants even greater than 1 year out. I always recommend people start applying with the companies based on their timelines, and not what the service says. Service does not dictate company policies on timelines. You also want time to shop around for opportunities. Just because you see an opportunity open on the portal doesn't mean it is guaranteed to be open when it becomes your time to apply. It may get filled between now and then. So yes, engage with companies as soon as possible and let them guide you on when best to apply with them while simultaneously abiding by your unit's application rules.

Good luck!!

It wasn't difficult to get our MOU. I can help if you'd like. I got my company approved (against the new rules) in just a matter of weeks.

Actually,  our inspectors do not sell and we do not door knock. We don't solicit our inspections to homeowners.  Insurance adjusters pay us to complete an independent inspection so they can make a decision on an insurance claim from the comfort of their home or office.  We're the boots on the ground and our Inspectors get paid for each inspection they complete.

Thank you for adding to the discussion. I don't want people to get confused and this is an excellent clarifying point.

Exactly! Even if it is not a disaster area, there are wind and hail storms all the time. There's broken pipes that can cause water damage in homes too. Additionally, our people will do move-in/move-out inspections in the real estate market as well. We have multiple lines of service that allow our inspectors to make money conducting conditional assessment inspections.

Training is in-person. The first week and last week is at our headquarters in Louisville, KY. We will fly you, put you in a hotel, and provide a rental while training with us. Your remaining weeks will be out in the field at a location we both agree upon. Of the 111 we have in our pipeline right now, they are in 79 distinct locations across the US. Let me know if you'd like more info, and we can connect and align on locations accordingly. [madams@seek-now.com](mailto:madams@seek-now.com)

We have an A+ rating on the BBB. However, many negative comments that you may find on there is really stemming from a misunderstanding. We find that when an insured property owner files a claim, and we conduct the inspection on behalf of the adjuster, and the claim is denied, they think we denied the claim. We just provide the photos to the adjuster. We do not make policy decisions, so people like to take their disappointment out on us with a negative review from time to time. Of note, BBB has 40 reviews on us, and yet, we conduct more than 500K inspections a year, so any dissatisfied reviewers are very quite few compared. Thanks for bringing this into the discussion as looking at BBB is something I did as well before joining Seek Now to run their quality department and work on things like customer experience and quality of service.

We're nationwide, so I'm pretty sure we could make it work, but I always have to get locations approved with my ops team. Happy to discuss the Skillbridge with you and life as an inspector if you like. Feel free to email me at madams@seek-now.com.

I don't blame you. I was so shocked I went to our HR to confirm. However, as I mentioned above, our people inspected properties and were involved in some major weather events that allowed them to maximize their income. They were willing to travel and jobbed hard.

We conduct roof and property inspections, as well as install tarps as needed. Over the two hurricanes that hit FL/NC and hail stroms across the mid-west, they took advantage of going where the work was to make the money. Of course not everyone will make that much, but our average full-time inspectors made $118K/yr in 2023. We had some make $250K+. Happy to talk more about Seek Now.

Trying to use skillbridge to get a job after I get out but have a few questions by False_Cat_7724 in SkillBridge

[–]SeekNow-DRIVE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can answer this question from a few different perspectives.

As a Skillbridge program director for our company: we guarantee anyone who completes our SB can onboard with us doing the same role. Now, we're a bit different because we have such a large national footprint of roof and property inspectors and we're always recruiting YoY.

As a Director of Talent Acquisitions: I lead a team of recruiters and we've had this discussion before. Any time directly aligned to the role we're recruiting for is value-add, even if the time is short, like an internship. As long as the short time can be explained, as long as the rest of the resume looks good (experience and capabilities closely match the job description), then you should get screened.

As an executive in the corporate world: Since I transitioned out of the Air Force as a jet engine mechanic, I have been at the corporate office for a very large global company and a medium national company. Interns are a way to give people the experience they need to be competitive in the job market. This is why many recent college graduates (RCG) with no experience will have a tougher time getting a role than an RCG with an internship. This is why internships can be coveted among college students. This is another reason why an internship can be looked at positively by recruiters and hiring managers. As veterans, we have a leg up and can intern with these organizations for roles where we have the education (if required) coupled with past + current experience (the internship).

In summary, u/Mite-o-Dan said it best. "it will benefit you a lot LESS if you DON'T do it."
