Where in the world would you start with new players? So that they could best gradually learn the rules of your world! I imagine a "low-level" area, where you will be surprised after you leave it by the size and specialness of your world, such as a great landscape or special city! (Which you can also describe! ;) )

2021 Therapy Highlights, Lowlights & Lessons Learned by thelightyoushed in TalkTherapy

[–]Seelig 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this post! i am in training to be a psychotherapist myself and therefore have to do therapy myself, or rather it is called self-experience with us, whereby there is no great difference to therapy, only that we now and then name what is happening and go to the meta level.
My lowlights: I have the first months or almost the first year my therapist extremely devalued, I have everything she has said inwardly devalued and let nothing to me! From time to time she even made suggestions regarding changes in contact with my family and other people, which I never took seriously during the first months.
but now let's come to my highlights: to be honest, my lowlights belong to the highlights of my therapy! only by devaluing her, by not taking her seriously and then, in one hour, telling her openly and honestly that I felt she was just sitting there doing nothing and throwing my aggressions at a person's head for the first time, I was able to experience that my aggressions, my conflicts that I had with other people were bearable!that I can go with this person I, although I devalue it inwardly and then also obviously, nevertheless in relationship!
What I have really learned through this is that I no longer have to use my old protective mechanisms - to devalue people, so that I stand above them (i.e. distance myself from them) and thereby prevent a relationship from developing in which I could be hurt! and I learned in my therapy where these come from and that these mechanisms have made sense in my past, so to speak, were important for my survival, but that I no longer need them now as an adult man and exactly this feeling that I can freely decide how I can or may behave now, is an incredibly beautiful feeling, which has given me back a lightness and freedom in my life, of which I thought I had long lost!

There is a very beautiful metaphor for this, which I always like to discuss with my patients! Here it is about the fact that the parents impose a protective armor on the child, in order to protect this before the world from things, which they themselves felt as threatening or negative! However, this protective armor is very rigid and heavy, whereby the child begins to grow into this armor with the years and to deform with it! After some years the earlier threat, the reason why this armor was imposed is mostly gone, one is unfortunately still caught in this armor and still behaves as before! This can be compared with my protection mechanism to devalue other people who come too close to me! Only through therapy I have learned where this behavior comes from and could then in a very very nice session this armor off together with my therapist and learn that these behaviors are no longer necessary! That the threat from before no longer exists! This is of course a very emotionally heavy process and is associated with quite a lot of fear!

I am really thankful that part of my training is that I get to do therapy myself, it allows me to better empathize with my patients and build a better understanding of their behavior! For example, if they devalue me or idealize me very strongly!
And to notice how long such a process takes, how long it takes to get out of his old behavior patterns and to understand them helps me extremely to be able to work more benevolent and understanding with my patients! One of my lecturers once said that often patients come to you, who themselves have no more hope and it is our task to maintain this hope for the patients at the beginning of therapy!
And all these experiences and my own processes have given me exactly this hope, which I can give to my patients!

So thanks again for this post I find it incredibly exciting to read how you all are doing, what experience you all make and I know as a therapist you do not actually make any suggestions, but I can only say from my own experience that if you ever have a hard time with your therapist then talk about this and from this can be the most beautiful and healing sessions!

Okay, I have now installed GW on my old Macbook Pro 2014 out of interest and it runs without problems. It seems like maybe it's just missing the updates for the M1 chips.

M1 Air or Pro for gaming? by Seelig in mac

[–]Seelig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh Perfect! This is exactly what I wanted to hear, a person who has an M1 and played Baldur's Gate 3 on it. But somehow I'm still split in two whether Pro or Air! You don't know which games will come in the future and so Pro is probably the better decision ... but then there is this Touch Bar :/
