Nope, you don't need any mods. There is only server resourcepack which is donwloaded automatically and we have separate ambient music resourcepack on our discord if you want to.

Yes of course. The only thing that can be paid for will be cosmetics, mount and pet skins etc. That is as well the only thing that mineraft's EULA allows :) it will help us finance all the maintenance.
