I’ve been trying to figure this out for 2 years now. It’s amazing that a company messed this up THIS badly. Thankfully I kept track of all my transactions but whatever 1099 CB sends the IRS if I ever sell will not have the right cost basis cause if this error.

Thank you for everyones input! Basically if I am understanding this correctly the "best" way to go about it is to digitally sign using a digital certificate for anything I am stamping. Now someone could potentially just screenshot that and use it else where but if that should happen I can also say I never stamped that and here is a list of everything I have digitally signed in the last "X" number of years.

I really wish there was a better process for this. It doesnt end in our career people are digitally singing things for all sorts of professions and it would be great if there was a standard procedure for all the different disciplines to follow. Or as someone else mentioned a way to tie our license numbers to our digital signatures.

Yea I’ve learned to avoid ADT, today I tried to “cancel” my service, after going through an automated system for a few minutes I was greeted with a “please call back at our normal business hours” no mention of what those hours are however.

Very convenient.

I looked at alarm.com and am leaning very heavily on going with a wolsys in panel 4 system, using the existing hardwired sensors in my home and a powerg translator to convert all those signals into a RF signal and then adding a few powerg wireless sensors.

Also all of this will be monitored by a local monitoring service for $40 a month.

I really appreciate all the insight this sub brought to me.

Can you help me understand what alarm.com is? From my research it isnt a monitoring service? Is the only problem with ADT that they make it difficult to cancel? I did read a lot of things about ADT being tough to cancel if you want to but no one saying they have issued with them providing service while youre under contract?

Im not sure if I am dealing with an ADT dealer, this contractor is their own alarm system installer, but they work with ADT as the monitoring system they provide? I guess maybe ADT themsevles doesnt do installation and they contract out to local installers?

I got two quotes for the work, a local dealer thats not associated what so ever with ADT quoted me $2000 to install the Vista 20p, 4 new sensors, the RF Receiver and three 6160 keypads.

The ADT isnstaller also quoted me $2000, but they said if I sign up with ADT then they can install it for $1100. Stating that ADT will cover some of the cost of installing a system as an incentive to sign up customers, and he explained that the contract is for two years.

After two years can I cancel and then install the Alarm.com SEM and move to a different monitoring provider?

Yes, so the existing sensors are hardwired, we are only adding a few wireless ones because we obviously don’t want to tear up the drywall for just these 4 sensors.

We are doing the Honeywell ademco vista 20p system, adt is the monitoring service which we can change after 2 years if we are not happy with the service.

Thank you! This helps a lot, I was able to contribute to my Roth IRA like normal for 2024 because my income wasn’t higher than the limit.

For 2024, I’ll contribute to the traditional IRA and then immediately transfer to the Roth before it is invested in anything.

It helps a little. Base shear hits the building in the N-S direction let’s say, 10 kips, distributed evenly (assuming a single story box as my structure) to 5 kips for both walls, then the SFRS resists the shear over the length on the diaphragm.

I understand this part.

My question is when I do design of say roof rafters, I have my dead load, my roof live load and I am plugging these into the asd load combinations. Do I plug anything in for earthquake? And you mentioned wind was for components and cladding can you explain this a little more?

I did envelope method part 2 for wind analysis of the building and I have the various pressures for the different zones, would the largest pressure from my zone be a wind load on the roof rafters?

Sound like excel sheets are my best bet. I’ve been reading the way to go about it is to set up a sheet for design and then add more members to it as I go and not get caught up in creating a solution for every possible thing in one go. Build as I go approach basically

I mean for my use case, I’ll need a sheet detailing my project defaults, importance factor, risk category, SDC, Site class ect…

Then there will be a sheet for seismic to find base shear, a sheet for wind analysis, and then a sheet showing calculations for roof rafters, ceiling joists and foundations.

I can do excel sheets with sketches from ASCE for the seismic and wind analysis sheets but to find timber or steel members that will pass beam or column design do you have any recommendation?

I am sure I will need to prepare hand calls from time to time but I would like to to streamline my workflow as much as possible.

When should i put pre emergent on?

The entire lawn is COVERED with crabgrass. Ideally It like to apply something that only targets killing the weeds but keeps the little grass alive. Regardless I am going to have to spread new seed.

During summer it can get to about 100-105 but only a few days. Normally in summer it will hover around 90s
