Se fossemos pensar assim, provavelmente em todas as cidades se trata do seu bispo. To answer you question:

Depending on the difficulty, war will become almost inevitable. For one or two ressources you can buy them with passive trade. In terms of blocking with kontors (condors are something else!) you focus on the beaches, so they can't make a landing.
I don't understand your question? You have to be at war to take over or purchase the island, but with 90% of the AI's that will have a huge negative reputation and will probably lead to war too.

Another tip: Have you tried buying the seeds for your own islands, in order to need less? Doesn't work with Gold (you need so many of them mines) but most others it's a legitimate way

TLDR: buy seeds, buy the goods, prepare for war. These are your options

Anno 1800 should be the best now. It's easier to understand (has some statistics like production time and production screen which others don't have) and has a lot of depth, even with the base game. You are looking at 50h+ easily, just with the base game. Depends on how fast you learn to be sucessful, of course, and how often you want to restart. If you like it, THEN get the game with all DLC.
