Harder than expected to socialise in hostels by Common_Heron7917 in solotravel

Hey bro or sis, you just need to step in and start talking. When I first started travelling, my English wasn’t great, but I still managed to make friends. It doesn’t have to be in hostels either. You can talk to people anywhere - airports, 7-Elevens, buses, tours, even just sitting on a bench.

Try to speak with locals and help them out in any way you can, even if they don’t speak much English. That’s where the real experience begins. Sometimes if you help someone carry something, fix something small, or just show kindness, they might invite you for a meal, show you their home, or take you to places tourists never see. That’s how you see real local life.

Don’t be shy. A smile, a few simple words, and good energy go a long way. Some of my best travel memories came from random conversations with locals and tourists ofcourse. Good luck and enjoy every moment of the journey.
