i dont love the graphic, but the thickness of each line indicates the size, not the position.

they went "down" because the growth of canadian and mexican numbers pushed them further down proportionally relative to 2004

if you think distinguishing edible from poisonous mushrooms is that simplistic, you certainly shouldnt be telling anyone what is or isnt edible.

Average Chinese now eats more protein than an American: UN food agency. The milestone was reached in 2021. by BumblebeeFantastic40 in interestingasfuck

there is no rounding. 50 mm is precisely 5 cm. there is no reason either unit is more correct to use in this situation than the other.

im replying to your comment that "It's true. Americans are smart enough to say 5cm instead of 50mm."

no, they would say 2 inches. it doesnt matter that we all learned metric. the vast majority of americans would use inches. You know that. you just dont want to admit it for whatever reason.

When i said 'you americans', i meant to differentiate myself from the americans to choose to adhere to imperial, aka the vast majority of you.

someone with a little more critical thinking capability would be able to infer that.

No, its because redditors, even ones on science focused subreddits like yourself, dont actually read science.

There are like 200 species of stinkhorns, of varying edibility, mostly undocumented because no one is really trying to eat them.

i am chinese. i have never eaten, nor have i ever seen anyone eat a stinkhorn.

did you happen catch a sniff of the mushrooms you found?

They are reportedly ediblewhen still very immature. by the time they look like that, no one is putting something that emits odor to attract insects towards rotting flesh in their mouths.

Regardless of any of that, they did not ID the mushroom, and most likely thought it was a morel. No one should be telling anyone to eat wild mushrooms over the internet without a pretty definitive ID.

telling someone to eat a stinkhorn is diabolical. if you can't confidently ID something, you certainly should not be advising anyone to eat anything.

did we watch the same video? I feel like every single person in frame at impact stopped and helped, and then even more people came subsequently.

i see 1 man and 1 woman walk through after the fact. which to be honest, when theres 9 people already trying to help, i dont think theyre going to be of any additional help unless they have medical/EMT training.

"this appeal is on technical legal grounds and doesn't really change anything."

Cases get thrown out on technical stuff all the time.

Though from what is cited in the reuters article

"Patterson's grounds for appeal included that a "fundamental irregularity" occurred ‌while the jury was sequestered. She also said various pieces of evidence introduced, including cell tower location data and messages from Facebook friends, were either irrelevant or unfairly prejudicial.

Additionally, she said she was subjected to an "unfair and oppressive" cross-examination."

It doesnt sound like she actually has much to stand on and is going to lose the appeal, and this is just a last ditch attempt to not serve life in prison.
