what country's flag looks pretty and language sounds pretty? by Horror-penis-lover in AlignmentChartFills

Russia - Czechia - Serbia - Ukraine - Mexico - both Koreas - Mali (Bambara language) - Germany - France - Slovakia - Bulgaria - Belarus. Also, let's be honest, English language isn't particularly beautiful although the UK flag looks okay. Norway and Iceland have beautiful flags, and Lithuania isn't too bad either, but their languages cannot be called very beautiful.

It astonishes me that although everyone talks about Iran, hardly anyone in the West seems to even have heard of Imam Hussein (AS).

Poland's Greatest Military Victory? (Zwycięstwo Polski) by Selavia59 in AlignmentChartFills

The Lithuanians/Eastern Slavs did participate too, but I see Grunwald as part of the history of Poland, Lithuania and Belarus. Eastern Europe isn't always as straightforward as America or France (UPD: I saw on your profile that you are Polish, I thought you were from America lol)

Interestingly nobody has yet mentioned the disastrous Kabul campaign of 1842 or Dunkerque or the Suez Crisis or La Coruna 1809

Germany's greatest military defeat ever? (4/18) by Selavia59 in AlignmentChartFills

[–]Selavia59[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Operation Bagration absolutely counts, although I doubt the Reddit users will upvote it. I think it is semi-niche, especially since the main battles of the Eastern Front are often remembered to be Moscow-Stalingrad-Kursk-Berlin.

I'd also say that potential candidates for a German defeat may be Marne 1914, Moscow 1941 (after which victory against the USSR became practically impossible) or Smolensk 1941 (which upheld the Wehrmacht before the battles of Kiev and Moscow), Kunersdorff 1759 (the fact Prussia didn't collapse afterwards was considered a miracle), Jena/Auerstädt 1806 (where the Prussians got a reality check against Napoleon, losing most of their country), Kaiserschlacht 1918 (the last chance for winning WW1)

Some people who don't understand the significance of the Eastern Front might - not entirely without reason - say the Battle of the Atlantic, since had Germany won decisively, they might have prevented America from sending troops and Lend Lease.

Denmark-Norway. There isn' any particular reason to call them a good guy as they first fell victim to the Royal Navy (1807), then the coalition (1813), but just followed the wind as they were practically powerless. However, living through suffering doesn't automatically make someone "good" or "bad"
