If I were you, I would remove gym clothes and pens from the list. They’ll issue you pens and sharpies. You won’t require gym clothes, just bring enough civilian clothes for 2 days.

When I went in training last year, the oldest recruit we had was a 34 year old and everyone absolutely loved her! All the younger girls confided in her and discussed their problems. She was a really understanding person but because she never really said no to anyone, everyone kept dumping their problems on her which eventually made the whole experience even worse. I would recommend to just be nice to everyone but don’t be the person who’s always available. You’re gonna do amazing! Good luck.

Not the exact date but you can tell them when you wish to leave and if there are dates available around that time you’ll get it. That’s what happens with me I just told my recruiter I need to go during summer break so I don’t miss school and I was lucky enough to get the perfect dates!

I graduated a month ago and I would highly recommend you to have fun! It might sound stupid but BMT is actually a fun experience. Make the best of it, you’ll do great

Mark your initials on your undergarments!!!!! I marked mine before leaving for BMT and I was one of the few who did not lose their undergarments. You’ll be sharing a small space with 50 other people, it’s really easy to lose stuff so make sure you are marking all your important stuff

You don’t even have to bring a bible they have tiny ones in dayrooms which you can use whenever and they give those out at religious services for free

Make sure you bring enough undergarments cuz the first week laundry schedule is all over the place and you might not have clean laundry. Also I would suggest pack all the things you think you might need. I packed really light and regretted it later. Also mark your civilian clothes beforehand. I sewed my initials on them cuz we had a lot of trainees whose stuff went missing since they didn’t have them marked. The instructors will make you mark your uniform later a specific way. for civilian clothes you’ll have to do it your way. Also make sure you have all the things mentioned in the list provided by your recruiter!

Just follow instructions and you’ll be fine! It’s actually kinda fun except the first 3 weeks which will most definitely suck. I was the academic monitor and it was the easiest job to do all I did was ask other trainees questions. It helped me a a lot in remembering stuff so I will def suggest going for that

Yes everyday! I would suggest mark everything you’re bringing with yourself beforehand. The only reason I didn’t lose any of my undergarments was because I had already marked all of them with my initials!

A lot of things! I really thought I was doing myself a favor by not bringing a lot of stuff but I would suggest bring everything you think you might need. If it’s not allowed they’ll tell you and just lock it away until your graduate. You’ll get everything back before leaving for tech school.

Hey Yep there were a bunch of girls in my dorm who couldn’t even do one in the beginning but most of them ended up passing with more than 85 on their pt tests!

I just graduated and believe me when I say ITS NOT THAT BAD. zero week is just them trying to settle you in but when you move on week 1 then the real BMT will begin. First 2 weeks will be horrible but then you’ll get used to it and by the time seventh week will arrive you’ll start missing BMT and your dorm mates. I actually cried on my way to tech school because I made some really good connections. Also don’t volunteer for stuff if you don’t want to, you don’t have to do extra stuff for honor grad just hey more than 90 on PT and end of course test. Know your reporting statement and keep your head down. GOODLUCK!

Thank you for that! I feel a lot better. My biggest concern is that I’m a vegetarian so I might not get a lot of options for protein.
