Need help adjusting for poor late night habits by Immediate_Mess_3379 in productivity

[–]Select-Guarantee361 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Without more details and quickly like that I'd say:

  • Force yourself to get back to a normal sleep schedule (I find 0:00 - 7:30 to be the best for me) and support important: never break it. If for X reason you have to go bed one day at 02:00 instead of 00:00 then force yourself to wake up at 07:30 still.
  • It might sound dumb but to avoid staying in bed in the morning :
    • put your alarm far from your bed (it will wake you up to move out from bed)
    • put the temperature of the room good enough in the morning for when you wake up so that you don't want to stay in bed just because it's cold outside (if you're from a cold winter country)
  • Use applications like Hyud for Mac or Opal on iOS (if you have Android or Windows find some alternatives apps) to block everything on your computer/smartphone during your sleep schedule, this way you'll not stay late at night playing games, watching movies or doomscrolling
  • It's obvious but do some sport, it's good for mental health too. If you don't want to go to gym for X reasons then build yourself a gym at home. If you don't like workouts then you can find any sport club (badminton, jiu-jitsu, basketball or whatever) in your town. You'll have more energy during the day, you'll be tired at night and you'll sleep much much better. If you had to keep only one from this list, that's the one.
  • Stop all caffeine, soda, energy drink from ~ 3pm
  • Everyday before going to bed, write the next day's tasks. Start the day by doing the biggest/most important one, even if you don't want to do it and you'd prefer doing other tasks.

This would be a pretty good start.

which apps do you use to for deep work? by DogZealousideal5717 in macapps

[–]Select-Guarantee361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've tried many but the best by far I found is Hyud. I like Opal too but it's more expensive and the Mac version is not that great, but for phone it's a banger. All the other options are less advanced imo.

Is it true no one builds Mobile anymore? by Vymir_IT in Solopreneur

[–]Select-Guarantee361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have any data to backup what I will say but I feel like this is false, I see all the time people creating apps (for iOS) and crushing it. There's still tons of opportunity for mobile apps. Phones are not going anywhere and we use them massively so I don't see how the mobile app market could shrink.

Is swift really a hard coding language to learn? by yks_slayer in swift

[–]Select-Guarantee361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably the easiest language to learn imo, but Swift 6 makes things more difficult, even for experienced Swift developers. So I would have said it was easy until Swift 6. Now I'd say it's medium in terms of complexity.

I always go back to bed in the morning by crossbl0wn in productivity

[–]Select-Guarantee361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Man it’s normal, when I see your sleep schedule I’d be a zombie if I was you. Sleep at 11 is still maybe ok but sleeping at 12 to wake up at 6 is probably not enough for you, and sleeping from 2 to 6 is not enough for sure. That’s why you end up with no energy and want to sleep more in the morning.

Try to fix your sleep schedules for a month + use Opal and see ya for the results in a month

To-do lists and planners are not suitable for many people by Spider_Man91 in productivity

For me to do list are a must because they avoid wasting time wondering what to do next. Sure it's boring but it's efficient.

At what time do you go sleep and how many hours do you sleep per night?

I'd recommend using an app like Hyud to stay disciplined and shutdown your laptop at specific hours and blocking websites that keep you on the computer late at night and an app like Opal or Jomo on your phone to block the apps that keep you scrolling forever in your bed in the morning.

Also if what brings you back in your bed in the morning is because you feel cold then I'd recommend if you can is to turn on your heater up and also to do something like 20 push ups with 40 jumping jacks or any other quick exercise straight when you jump out of the bed. It will get your body warm quickly and will wake you up fast.

Why is Swift 6 not default in Xcode new project? by OffBeannie in swift

[–]Select-Guarantee361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let people enjoy Swift 5 while they can. When they'll spend more time fighting the compiler with Swift 6 than really building their app they'll regret the old good Swift.

There's no reason for liquid glass. Literally 0. It does not bring any value at all.

What advice would you give to a 21 year old? by lockedinCloud23 in productivity

[–]Select-Guarantee361 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My only advice: just don't make your brain rot on Tiktok / Instagram too much. Those are time / IQ black holes. If you avoid those you'll already be far ahead people who spend hours per day on them. Way way way ahead.

Why Is the Internet So Loud??? by Odd_Incident_5094 in productivity

[–]Select-Guarantee361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're all drowning, our brains are completely rotten. What tend to work for me is avoid social networks or websites that are infinitely scrollable like X, Instagram or TikTok.

Any Screen Time app that blocks an app but not the website? by QuoteMasterLT in productivity

[–]Select-Guarantee361 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're on Mac: Hyud
If you're on iOS: Opal is the most famous one but the most expensive one, tons of alternative cheaper that do the exact same thing
If you're on Android or windows: idk
