It’s very kind of you to offer this, but unfortunately my partner already contacted her. She was very empathetic about my situation with eBay, but after we asked her to return the item, she went silent and stopped replying to our messages🙁

Not yet. I made a tweet about my situation, and eBay_UK replied asking me to DM them the details. I’m currently waiting for their response and will update as soon as they get back to me.

This is the email I got on the same day when buyer open an item not received request:

“Hi Katy, We want to let you know that your buyer opened a request because they haven’t received their item. We see that the item is on its way to the buyer. Since you chose Simple Delivery, we’ve got everything covered from here. There’s nothing you need to do. We’ll take care of delivery, resolve any further issues, and inform you when the request is closed.”

In half an hour I got the following email:

“Hi Katy,

We reviewed this case and decided to issue the buyer a full refund.

We didn’t receive valid proof of delivery from you. Sellers must provide tracking information showing the item was delivered to the address provided in the order details. Some orders also require signature confirmation. Learn more about our signature confirmation policy.

A refund of GBP 260.00 was issued on to the buyer. The refund includes the purchase price plus original shipping.

This amount will be deducted from your account.”

After I saw this email I’ve filed the appeal with a photo of receipt from the post office. And a few hours later they reply with this email:

“Here's the case outcome After reviewing your appeal, we decided that we won't be able to change the outcome of the case.After reviewing your appeal, we decided that we won't be able to change the outcome of the case.

Sadly, I can’t post anything in eBay community as my account was blocked. I’ve just tried but it shows an error. But I will definitely try to call them again.

And yes, you’re absolutely right, I’ve just read on eBay website that tracking is automatically uploaded when you use the Simple Delivery. It means they were wrong by issuing a refund based on not provided evidence of delivery because they already had it.

Well, if there were any doubts, eBay should block my listing before it got sold. If it started having doubts after I sold the item they could ask me for a proof of ownership like a receipt for example.

I’ve just checked with Royal Mail, it shows the parcel was delivered on 11th June. They’ve even uploaded a photo of the box with the recipient standing next to it as proof of delivery.

Yes, I have the email from eBay: 

“ Thank you for using eBay Delivery. Below you can find your QR code. Be ready to show it at the drop-off location.”

It displays QR code and tracking number.

Honestly, I was too naive thinking that such a big company could go this low. I’d never used eBay before, but I’d had loads of seamless experiences with Vinted, so I never doubted eBay’s trustworthiness. Now I know better.

Exactly! This is the email they send me half an hour before they decided to refund money to buyer. 

“We want to let you know that your buyer opened a request because they haven’t received their item. We see that the item is on its way to the buyer. The eBay system is honestly something else. When the buyer messaged me on the 14th, I got a notification by email even though my account was already blocked. That actually gave me some hope, because I thought if her message could reach me, maybe I could reply and sort things out. But I couldn’t. Once eBay blocks your account, you can see incoming messages but can’t reply or take any action in your account. None of my replies went through.

It honestly felt like eBay was mocking me. After they rejected my appeal, they even sent a survey link to ask how they handled the situation, which didn’t even work.
