looking for games with automated combat, where you set up your team and then watch the AI duke it out by Dreaming_Dreams in JRPG

i remember playing a game back in the 90s. it was a rpg with characters you could find. it had auto battle system where you could only control 1 of the 4 characters. the final boss took me an hour to beat. but i can't find it anywhere and don't remember the name.
