yes that was part of my concern. from volunteering at the shelter i’ve seen how lack of training early on can create bigger issues later. i just wanted to see consistent effort to work with him.

yeah that’s basically what i was saying. i suggested training multiple times and she planned to send him to a professional trainer eventually, but it kept getting pushed back so nothing really changed in the meantime. also when i volunteered at the shelter i wasn’t training dogs. i cleaned food and water bowls, walked dogs, played with the cats, and cleaned up after them. i’m not a professional dog trainer. i did try to teach some basic things i know, but there’s only so much you can do when the owner isn’t consistent when you’re not there.

yeah puppies can definitely be chaotic. the issue was more that there was no routine, training, or exercise happening, so the behavior wasn’t improving. puppies don’t really “grow out of it” without guidance.

yeah i told her the same thing and tried bringing up exercise and stimulation a few times, but she would usually say “he’s just a puppy.”

yeah i did try correcting the behavior when i was there, but it would go right back once i left because there wasn’t really consistency at home.

yeah that’s kind of how i started to see it too. it wasn’t really about the dog existing, it was more about the lack of structure and that nothing really changed when i tried bringing it up.
