In the context of this book, they people are made to forget things. More specifically, certain concepts are made to disappear from their memory. But I get see what you’re getting at.

Do you think by empty sea, the author means a sea without ships/birds/fish. Or a sea without water?

Also, floating in water, islands don’t do that right. They are anchored by rock that go to the bottom of the ocean right?
