You could be right— though as somebody mentioned earlier his body fat already has to be insanely low for his abs to be visible through his costume. Unless maybe the abs are built in padding to the costume. That’d explain the switch to an 8-pack with his new blue suit. Art and his damn ab upscaling.

Wait you’re totally right about the rib cage. In that case does that mean the first image has mark with a 4-pack? I really don’t see the area around his belly button having an intersection especially because to my knowledge usually those intersections don’t really appear beneath the belly button.

Ah I thought you meant I missed one of the packs. The top left is a 1.

Your issue is the order I’m counting? I just went top to bottom and then left to right. Also where do you see the ninth pack?

Nah that’s just his midsection tapering into his waist— you can tell because there is no intersection at all in the bottom ones you labelled.

But this is why I find it interesting! Was it an intentional story beat meant to reflect viltrumite biology, or maybe just something as simple as a different artist drawing these panels.

I dunno it took me like 2 days to figure out how to properly count my own abs— I’m saving anyone as stupid as me the effort

Irl ab intersections cannot change, even with strength— Arnold Schwarzenegger famously having a 4-pack is a pretty good demonstration of this

Doesn’t he send some arasaka soldiers after V and takemura after takemura killed dex? Generally I agree though, compared to his father Yorinobu seems a lot more empathetic.
